Our local NBC affiliate, kxas, CHANNEL 5 has interrupted regular programming and is carrying the events live. They had a news crew covering the protest and they were right there when it happened. They are covering it live at 9:19pm. I heard 2 officers have been shot as well. Apparently the protest had ended, and then the gunfire started.
Just heard from reporter: police tell them that shooter has a rifle. No other details at this time.
Prayers go out to the officers, for their recovery.

Wfaa is live too, people saying ar15 and the anchor John maccaa was very clear that this is what people always describe and we don't know what it was but from the sounds it was a long gun.
I heard some audio it was certainly a semi auto rifle, sounded louder then a .223 but hard to tell with echo on video

interviews of some of the marchers, was odd, they were calm and collected.
one man said he jumped out front to get pictures of the crowd..then he heard shots and saw a policeman get shot.
