What happens when you don’t have anything to protect yourself?

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

What happens when you don’t have anything to protect yourself?

I don't always take notice of the opinions of rock musicians, but when I do it is because I hear truth in what they are saying. Below is a quote from Hsoi's blog with links. Tom Araya clearly expresses one of the main concerns that informs my approach to life; that those for whom I am responsible would die because I did not have the tools to protect them.

Some of my responsibilities changed when I retired after 34 years under arms. My oath and my responsibility to protect and defend, however, are immutable and have no expiration date.

*** Edited to conform to forum rules. ***
During a June 27, 2016 concert in Pratteln, Switzerland, Tom Araya – singer and bassist for the band Slayer – had this to say during his stage rap:

"Is it true that every household has to own a rifle or a gun? No? I thought everybody was supposed to have a rifle or a gun in their home. It’s not right? How else are you gonna defend your country?

Where you are in the world, you need to protect yourselves. Not from each other, but from invaders. And you know what I’m talking about, right? You should be aware of your invaders — people that come here to do you harm. It’s not right. You should be able to protect and defend your country. That’s the way it should be everywhere. ‘Cause when you don’t have anything to protect yourself or your fellow countrymen, what happens? People ******* die. They do! Don’t they? Yeah. You can see it going on.

I’m not gonna name names, but you can see what’s going on in other countries. ‘Cause they can’t protect themselves. And that’s what I’m talking about: being able to protect yourself and your fellow countrymen and your ******* country. I’m being serious, man. This isn’t a ******* joke. You know, it really sucks to know that other people die, because you can’t protect them. That ******* sucks."

I look at it like 3 levels of defense.
1. SELF
2. HOME
3. COUNTRY
and the weapons needed for each.

I agree with what he had to say. We all need to be able to protect our family.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have. CARRY 24/7/365 and 366 sometimes.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

You and your loved ones die.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

You use your finely honed martial arts/fighting skills to disarm/disable/kill. Like the Spartans, all should begin warrior training in armed and unarmed combat around the age of 9. Then by the time you're in your 20's, you are a finely honed killing machine. More than a match for any home grown terrorists, robbers, commies, Nazis, and various other perps waiting for your Spartan death blow.
