Mitch McConnell Allows Another Gun Control Vote

Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

This is what is wrong with the Rhino's. When Ted Cruz filibustered he was denounced by everyone. He shut the government down. Big deal- they are better when they are shut down. The Democrats filibuster and they get the chance to vote their stupid issues. Would Harry Reid have let the Republicans have a vote if the situation was reversed? In the House the democrats are illegally having a sit-down. Can't the Rhinos have security escort them out? You have a majority in the House and Senate and can't even block these votes.

Hopefully, even if it made it through the senate, it wouldn't pass the house.

I've read some on this bill and I don't see it having a ton of difference from Feistein's bill, but I haven't read the entire thing. Seems like it's a minimal compromise, if any at all. I don't see why this is being entertained...

Any ideas on when the vote will be?

I haven't read any of it. What is the compromise? What do conservatives get?

It seems like the Democrats voted down the the NRA backed bill, just so they would have hay for the stunt they pulled yesterday. If this new one passes they will try to take credit

You get to prove your innocence to the government with no time limit. This is precisely why I've been saying that Cornyn's Bill was a compromise - it was a simple delay unless they could basically get an arrest warrant. There was at least a glimmer of due process.

Again I haven't read the text of the bill (if it's even available!) so I may be mistaken on aspects of it.

EDIT - Looks like I may have been mistaken, quoted from the story I shared below:
It also would have given people denied firearms a 14-day period to appeal the decision and would have reimbursed their attorney’s fees in the case of a successful appeal.
Not really sure what the 14 days is. You have 14 days to prove your innocence so you can buy, or 14 days for them to prove your guilt and if they don’t the purchase goes through.

I laughed out loud when I read this. He promised a vote. Never said what kind of vote.

Surprise! It's a vote to table.

Does anybody want McConnell to emulate Reid?

Why not have a vote?

It looks to me that this bill was introduced by a Maine Republican Senator who is in a tough re-election fight. So probably the whole thing is to give her some cover. Doing the right thing always seems to take a back seat to re-election. :???:

There is a consequence to winning an election. Do you want McConnell to allow Obama to get a supreme court justice in? If you have control of the house and senate you ought to be able to do something- or do nothing.
