I sold a Sig 226 Navy and an HK P7M8 and bought two identical VP9's, night sights, rails, 3 magazines each, 15+1 to start. One to carry one, for the night stand. I don't put lights on either, but have a Surefire E2E that is astonishingly bright. If you are lit up in pistol distance, you won't see the bullet or anything else for awhile.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

My EDC is a Ruger LCP or an XD sub compact .40, depending on what I have to wear that day. Nightstand is a SigPro 2340 in .357sig. Extra mags follow the guns from the safe to my pocket or to the nightstand. I have a tac vest leftover from the law enforcement days that I will load up with mags and a pistol and hang it next to the bed, But first I want to screen print "Homeowner/Resident Do Not Shoot" on the back because, well, cops be gettin quick on the trigger sometimes. Actually, I'm deaf without hearing aids and I have seen too many stories of Deaf people getting shot or tasered because they didn't hear a police command.

Lots of good weapons/weapon combinations listed. I would highly recommend an advanced tactics class to learn how to use this gear, both in daylight and in the dark when clearing rooms, etc. I went through a 3 day/two night class and learned that just about everything I had read prior to taking the class did not work out so well. Had me completely rethinking what I was doing ver quickly. The instructor is former Delta (10 years) and has trained military/law enforcement/civilians for almost two decades since retiring from the military. Many of the people in the class I took were law enforcement. He also has classes on how to use an AR that will get you up and running on that platform. No, I am not paid to advertise for him. He does not advertise. I am just pointing out that taking a training class will completely change your mindset on what you would do and make you much better prepared if you need to protect yourself and your loved ones.

I wonder how long until there is a comercially available load for this situation that will expand like a HP pistol round. Be hard to beat if it would have an expanding bullet.

Unfortunately, it's out of stock at the moment. That's why I'm using 208 gr A-MAX subs.

EDC rotates between a G30, G26 and a LC9S Pro. Night stand guns are a G17 with a TLR-2 HL and the wife has a S&W 29-3 .44 mag. There is also a S&W M&P Sport II with an attached light very close. There are dogs in the house but they're not really vicious. I just want them to bark and give me a heads up.

I do miss my XD and xdm, I just really disliked the grip size. The xdm 9 19+1 is near the bottom of my considerations. Still on top is a railed 1911, followed by a sig 2022. The tough part really is that the sig emp scorp is as much as the xdm and 2022 combined, or any two nice polymers.

One of the most enjoyable tough decisions I've had to make.

I haven't seen testing on those yet. Figured it would only be a matter of time until something like that was offered.

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

Right now a Glock 17 with a sure fire x300 attached , before that it was a 21sf for several years.
If I can get used to the hk Usp 45 I acquired then that will likely turn into the nightstand pistol as I prefer the idea of a heavier first pull or safety for fumbling at night with adrenaline

There are three guns in my night stand. Ruger P89 9MM and a S&W Model 28 .357 in the drawers. Sitting on top is a Colt 70 series 1911 .45. When the grandkids come over I put them in the safe.
Do what you say you're gonna do.
