Thanks for all the answers. I have looked at all of them and coming up with nothing. I definitely going to check out the sites that Jusme suggested.

The river that runs under it is maybe 150 yards wide and the banks are very high (60-100 feet).

We have RV'd a bunch of times from Fort Worth to Port Aransas and have passed through a small town in between here and there that I would like to go back to but can't remember the name. It is a small town with a metal arch style bridge that goes over a river that isn't typical for Texas. The river is almost set in a gorge and has homes on the bluffs on each side. I really want to go boating on that river this summer.

What say you Texperts?
Sounds like La Grange... The old metal suspension bridge on 77 has been replaced with a modern bridge but there is still a metal bridge like the one you describe on the Business 71 Route. The Colorado runs through there and it is a fairly deep gorge with some homes on the hills and bluffs above it...
If that's the bridge, the OP should remember taking the RV up the steep grade and sharp turns on the other side of the bridge.

That's true if he took 77 south. He would have gone up Monument Hill. He could have taken 71 down to Columbus and then on to 59 south to head down to the coast from Victoria.

Just trying to figure out deep ravine rivers with homes. Could be the 360 bridge in Austin as well but there's not too many deep ravines that I know of between Ft. Worth and South Padre...

Was the bridge on 281 @ Marble Falls ever a metal, arched type? Other than the bridge type, this crossing perfectly matches the op's description. The bridge replacement work has been going on during my travels thru there. ??

Marbles Falls looks quite like it, but the bridge style was a Parker/Metal Arched type. I remember this specifically because the clearance was within about 16 inches of what the total RV height was.

This sounds like Gonzales, the Guadalupe river runs right through it. There is an RV park just off the highway and I believe a drag strip. It fits the description and I have gone through there on my way to Corpus Christi fro Austin. Hope it helps.

Other than that the only thing I can think of is Llano, but if you go through Llano on your way to Port A from Fort Worth I would suggest a better GPS or a new map.

This was my guess, it's beautiful there.

I'm heading to Port A this afternoon (from Austin)
But I will probably take the 37 route in fear of flooding.

I really doubt this is where you're thinking of because it'd be way out of the way, but there's the Regency Bridge. Its one of the last remaining suspension bridges in Texas. Its a one lane and spans the Colorado and is extremely high.

The bridge is just outside of Goldthwaite, TX but down some back road out in the middle of nowhere. Last time I was there you could still drive over it and you could hear the old wood planks moving beneath you.

I couldn't find a great pic of the bridge I described above, but here is one from Texas Country Reporter (If I do this right)

There is also a youtube video of it if you go to youtube and search Regency Bridge Texas
