National Gun Control Awareness Day? National Rights Preservation Day?
So, how about a national day when we all bring attention to the perils introduced into our society by restricting law abiding citizens second amendment right to keep and bear arms? A day to remember those who are victims of "gun free zones"? A day to reflect on what it means to be forced to give up your means of self defence as a law abiding individual, while criminals ignore laws put in place by your legislature? We could wear a color to symbolize it, or something like that.
Just a thought...

On the 2nd of each month I wear either my hat or shirt with every 2nd matters printed on it. And since open carry passed I now open carry on the 2nd as well.

Maybe doing so would help bring attention to our cause. Or at least people could ask questions about what the shirt/hat means.Kkpsiknl wrote:On the 2nd of each month I wear either my hat or shirt with every 2nd matters printed on it. And since open carry passed I now open carry on the 2nd as well.

I like it; I like it a lot! We could organize something for either Sept. 1st (the day SB60 went into effect) or April 21st (San Jacinto Day). San Jacinto Day is after the Nov. elections and well into the 2017 Texas Legislative session, both of which are negatives. Sept. 1st is just around the corner in the realm of organizing events of any size.TexasJohnBoy wrote:So, how about a national day when we all bring attention to the perils introduced into our society by restricting law abiding citizens second amendment right to keep and bear arms? If there's enough interest, I'll put together a task force to organize and publicize it through the Texas Firearms Coalition.
I'll post a poll just to gauge interest.

Re: National Gun Control Awareness Day? National Rights Preservation Day?
Thanks!
I got the notion after seeing all of this nonsense about the so-called awareness day this week. It got me thinking about how we are always cast in a negative light by the other side, and how we may be able to turn that around proactively. I also think that using an organized day like this to promote education and safety would be constructive (a la Project Childsafe). After all, I believe I can speak for everyone on this forum, I think we have the utmost respect for our self defense weapons and gun safety is at the TOP of our minds at all times.
We need to stand up and be heard and be just as loud and organized as our opponents.

I think this is a great idea! Just make sure that the day you pick isn't already an awareness day for some other cause. I know I certainly can't keep track of them all. It wouldn't help our cause to to appear to be stepping on the toes of some other group.
ETA: I had to look up what awareness day you were originally talking about. I'm annoyed I didn't hear about it in advance. I totally would have worn orange and open carried all day. The only rational reaction to awareness of the problem of gun violence in our society is to arm yourself so that you might protect yourself and others.

I think in the future we should wear an orange tshirt printed with "the 2nd is 1st" open carry and basically highjack their awareness day! My 2cents

I've always had a wish or dream to see some large placards on easels or some such set up along the street.
One line would be portrait photos of NRA board members, past and present, with a quick, easily legible summary of their accomplishments/history.
Next to it, or facing it, or whatever works, would be a very similar line of portraits of Illegal Mayors against Guns, with similar summary of their arrests and convictions. Most of these would be "past" members, since they tend to resign quietly once their stuff hits the fan, but no matter. There are a bunch of those clowns.
I had always envisioned this set up outside some MAIG meeting or convention, or maybe the NRA Annual Meeting.
I suppose a more updated version would be to project the images on the side of a building, maybe two a time, one NRA board member, one MAIG miscreant, with their accomplishments listed....

A wall of fame montage set opposite a wall of shame. I can live with that!ELB wrote:I've always had a wish or dream to see some large placards on easels or some such set up along the street.
