HOUSTON, May 4, 2016—Yesterday, the Blinn College Board of Trustees agreed to settle a First Amendment lawsuit filed last year by a student [Nicole Sanders] who was told that she would need to jump through numerous bureaucratic hoops to express herself on campus and would need “special permission” to display a gun rights sign. The settlement is the ninth consecutive victory for the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education’s (FIRE’s) unprecedented and undefeated Stand Up For Speech Litigation Project.
The college will also payh $50K for her time and lawyers' fees.

I remember when this came up, I thought we had a thread about it, but I can't find it if it does exist.

It's great that she won the case. It's even better that the school has to pay up. A lot of times, the only thing that gets someone's attention is money.

Not completely, there is a small contingent of ex-military that go on about how they served and only the military should have guns that are right leaning on most every other topic.

android,

I'm sure that some ex-military are like the small percentage of LEO's who dislike civilians being armed, but I'd guess there are more ex-military and LEO's who are heartily in favor of law abiding armed citizenry.

I'm ex-military and I'd love to see more law abiding being armed.

From what I have observed, I would agree. It appears that the dislike of persons with firearms is mostly in the officer country than in the enlisted.

That's no surprise. When I was on active duty, it was painfully obvious that most officers kept their heads where the sun don't shine.

Officers have to be college educated. Same commies teach the colleges that they went to as are brainwashing the "hurtful words" generation now.

Sorry you had to serve with such poor leadership. I served as enlisted and NCO thru Staff Sargent (E-6), and Officer thru Captain (0-3) and can't say the same.

Glad that I was an Infantry officer decades before political correctness came along.

Enlisted into 1st Cavalry Division, 1973. OCS 1976, back to 1CD. Joined Texas Army National Guard in 1991. Called back to active duty 2004, retired 2012. 10 years commissioned, 24 years enlisted.

All of my artillery units were nuclear capable or nuclear only. Almost all unit members were in the Personnel Reliability Program. The infantry guarding my Pershing missiles carried loaded M16s. I trained my soldiers thoroughly on the use of force. I'd trust any of them.

MG Nichols, Texas Adjutant General, has issued a policy clarifying that Texas National Guardsmen who have an LTC can carry in uniform.

Maybe the artillery is different, but I don't even know any officers who are against enlisted soldiers carrying their firearms.
