The bill will die at session end, perhaps to be reintroduced in the next Congress, likely to await the same fate.

The Commies have controlled Congress for most of my lifetime. As far as I have records, Congress typically passes 2-5% of the bills and resolutions introduced. The rest are not even read officially. It has nothing to do with "do nothing Republicans" at all, and everything to do with the phenomena I described.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Republicans have controlled Congress most of the last 20 years. House 16 of the last 20 years, Senate 12 of the last 20 years.
And more to the point, the Republicans have controlled both House & Senate since this bill was introduced.
And what do we have to show for it? Nothing. And the Trump payback is the result.

The pattern persists no matter who is in control. You are either exceedingly dense, or stubbornly unable to admit political reality. I suppose the third option possible is that you want to get in your licks on a Republican Congress, no matter what.Solaris wrote:You are either very old or very young.JALLEN wrote:Don't be silly.Solaris wrote:Yes exactly. The Commies have controlled Congress for most of my lifetime.Either way, it does not matter. What matters is who is in control NOW, or in the most recent past.

The gripe you have is real, and widely recognized, but not what is responsible for this bill's treatment.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

And how many of those years did they have a Democrat sitting in the White House? What exactly did you expect would get accomplished over the last 6 years?Solaris wrote:

Lots of things could be accomplished. First would be to vote on it, so we know who are friends are and who are not. Another would be to force Obama to veto it, and use it as an election issue as we did with CHL in 93. But since Obama has already passed 15 pro-gun bills (3 involving pro-carry), compared to Bush 1, I would expect he would sign it like he did other pro-carry bills.
