It amazes me the number of businesses that had no signs for the past 20 years and experienced no problems with concealed carry that are now posting both 30.06 and 30.07 signs. I can understand a business not wanting open carry as there are clients/customers who are just not comfortable around guns but concealed is concealed and no one should probably notice a concealed carry unless they are looking for it.

I personally have a firearm wit me at all times as well as my other employee. Only a couple people mentioned the signs, but after I thought about it, I have been on the fence about them. I am very pro gun and believe in the 2nd amendment for protection for myself and my family. I would like to thank the people on this thread that helped me decide on what to do. I have removed the 30.06 sign and left the 30.07. I realize my beliefs are not the same as everyone's, therefore my decision was to leave the sign that you may not open carry in my place business out of respect for people who are not comfortable with guns. Honestly, I haven't but 2 people open carry outside of a gun show since the law went into effect anyway. Great information for a business owner. Thanks.
Why was your first reaction to put up a 30.06 and 30.07? Did your insurance company try to influence you? I think the forum members would like to know the mindset of a business person regarding these signs. I am not critical but curious.

This has been posted before, but it bears repeating.

People downplay the negative impact of posting 30.06/30.07 by saying that only 4-5% of Texas residents have a LTC issued by the state of Texas, and a portion of those folks will still patronize a posted business because they either don't carry at all, or will willingly disarm to eat / shop there. This is all correct, but I feel like they are missing some key factors.

The thing that matters is the impact to a businesses sales by posting signs. So we need to look at the percentage of that businesses customer base which will stop going there. This will vary tremendously based on the type of business. In particular, businesses where the key customer decision maker is over 21 (most businesses) will be impacted much more, since the percentage of LTC holders among that age group is much, much higher than the 4-5% they make up for the population as a whole. If the business caters to men, then the percentage of LTC holders in their customer base will be higher still.

The "average" business may see only a 2-5% decline after all factors are considered, but the range will be significant. Some businesses may actually see an increase in sales if they market to the same folks who are members of MDA, and other businesses could see their bottom line move into negative numbers. A smart business owner should take some time to determine the percentage of LTC holders in their target customer demographic before making any decisions on this.
