Humm, do I split it up and buy 2 of each? I think not as we sometimes shoot that each week but at least every other week. So, I started buying 4 of each. Then, she gets me an AR-15 for my birthday this year. Thats another dilemma. Now I buy 4 each of .45 and 9mm and 2 of the .556.
So, my on hand totals are--16,250 rounds of .45, 9,850 rounds of 9mm, and 880 rounds of .556. Then there are my 12 Guage rounds but I didn't count them. So, I guess I need to start buying more to catch up
That sounds like a good start.

Show me the man who knows exactly how many rounds of ammo he has and I'll show you someone who either doesn't have enough ammo or who has too much time on his hands. The same might also be said for guns.

I would have to look in the safe to be completely sure on the number of guns I own, and like you, I would have to count the rounds of ammo. Best guess is maybe somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 rounds at the moment.

I too was inspired to inventory my long term and ready use magazine. Our move still isn't complete and the stuff was hiding from me but I think I got most of it.
Long term:
6 - 1200 round cases of IMI M193, 4 - 1000 round cases of IMI .45acp, 1200 rounds of Winchester SuperX 12 gauge just about equally split between slugs, 00, #6. 3000 rounds of Federal Game Shok .22lr, 1580 low brass/paper shotgun rounds mixed 12-16-20-28 gauges. The IMI rifle ammo is annealed and sealed to NATO spec. The Pistol ammo is sealed to same. Should be good to go for my great grands a least. The Win SuperX was my choice after running a couple hundred rounds that were at least 20 years old flawlessly through both auto and pump guns. The low brass/paper rounds are for some old doubles I have around. All rounds are packed in MTM boxes with gobs of gel packs that are sealed with Sika urethane adhesive.
ReAdy Use:
600 rounds IMI M193, 500 rounds Black Hills 5.56 77 grn OTM, 300 rounds Black Hills .308 178 grn A-Max, 200 rounds Hornady .308 A-Max, 280 rounds Hornady .30-30 Lev-Evo, 200 rounds .30-30 WWB, 120 rounds .30-06 SST 168 grn, 60 rounds .45-70 Hornady 325 grn, 20 rounds Buffalo Bore .45-70, 400 rounds IMI .45acp fmj, 400 rounds Hornady xtp .45acp, 600 rounds mixed .22lr, 132 rounds low brass/paper 12 and 20 gauge.
Need to pack away:
62 rounds .375 H&H 300 grn Kynoch, 17 rounds .400 H&H 400 grn Woodleigh, 20 rounds 9.3 X 62 Norma Oryx, 12 rounds 450/400NE Kynoch, 40 rounds .338 WinMag Hornady SST, 60 rounds .300 WinMag Hornady, 33 rounds .25-06 Remington.

Yes, I have too much time on my hands. Thanks for the project.

P.S. want to recapture some memories of days gone by? Go shoot some paper hulled/wadded shotgun shells. The smell of the burning paper and propellant takes me back to being in the field with my Pops and my Dad. Nothing like it.

We are not post MAD attack yet. All that ammo for prepping is
I have less than 2K and I am contemplating to sell all my factory 9mm, 45ACP and 30-06 since I do load my own now.
I will post the inventory of factory ammo and open up the bids. :clapping: :clapping:

I keep up with my ammo counts in a word doc. One can never have too much ammo unless one is swimming or on fire.

Well darn it.....now I have to count all my ammo tomorrow and then probably buy some more....this thread made me crazy, seeing some of those high counts :grumble

I hate buying cases of ammo that cost more than some of my guns ....but that's just the way it is and I don't think it's going go get any better. I did cut down on the number of different calibers I shoot so that has helped.

I also made sure I have plenty of "standard capacity" magazines. I even have a nice supply of 17 and 33 round Glock factory mags but no longer have any Glocks. My best friend has a Glock 34 so my mags may come in handy for her some day.

:woohoo

Yup,I buy a box or two every week.Lately I've been buying ammo in calibers I don't even own but my family members do.If it comes down to it the ATF rule works for future barter times. One can never have to much Alcohol,Tobacco, or Firearms!
