Just got off the phone with the RSD folks. My background check is not completed, but all my documents are in. I should expect something within the next 2-3 years...

Day 77.

I have had many things I have had to wait for and it be this long if not longer; getting a new car, moving out of the dorms, graduating from school, etc. But there is just something different that makes this wait much longer and more irritating. :banghead:
It's expectations. If you are like me, you know several people that got theirs within 3 weeks of taking the class. But this was back before the recent surge so I am thinking it's going to probably take close to the 6 weeks that is printed on the official email. Then 6 weeks go by so you spend an hour waiting on hold to get a generic message. 8 weeks go by and same thing. 10 weeks go by and you see happy posts from people that applied a month after you. 12 weeks go by and still nothing.

I least have phone confirmation that I am approved by can't feel easy till I see the website change. If they could just make a better Website experience like what has been mentioned several times, the frustration would be less.

And I have a clean record and an uncommon name.
I had a phone confirmation too... And today a phone disconfirmation.

Its impossible to reconcile the expectation with the reality. The email that you receive from RSD says six weeks. The statute says 60 days. On the phone they give you a different story every time.

frustrating.
Really, they changed their story on your confirmation? I was told yesterday that mine went to printing on 4/1. Now you have me thinking I should call again because the website still has not changed. :???:

But then again, that doesn't accomplish anything.
Yes, on Mar 23 they told me, you have been approved and we are just waiting for data input and printing. Today I was told, you haven't been through the background check yet.

I've been checking the website with no change. I've sent 2 emails with no response. I've tried to call for 3 weeks straight and get the usual "due to high call volume no one call take your call".

Still nothing.

UPDATE: I just got mine in the mail today. Almost 3 months. I never was able to get through to anyone on a phone call and never did receive a return email.

Please allow 7-10 days for delivery. I've noticed, judging from recent posts on here, that it generally has taking less then less then a week from this point. My {mental} target day is now 4/6/16, which would be 82 days from "all in to plastic".

:thewave

Timeline
12/4/15: Application
12/7/15: Fingerprints (received by DPS 12/8/15)
1/14/16: CHL-100
1/15/16: Uploaded CHL & DD-214 to RDS (all in date)
1/21/16: Received confirmation of receipt
3/23/16: Received response from DPS (as the result of a call to my state rep): Just wait a bit longer, should get to it next week :waiting:
3/30/16: Received follow up call from DPS: Approved to be sent to print on 3/31 (Day 75)
4/6/16 [UPDATED]: Received another follow-up call from DPS - "HAHAHA "rlol" , just kidding. We actually waited until 4/5/16 to send your stuff to the printer, please allow 7-10 more days to receive plastic. :banghead:

Website Change: ?????
Plastic Received: ?????
Day 82

The efficiency of DPS is completely underwhelming me at this point  . After not receiving anything for a week since my last call, I called the DPS supervisor that initially called me (she was nice enough to provide her phone number to me). Was not sent out on 3/31/16 as I was told it would, but it was sent out to print on 4/5/16. Translation: It's out of the DPS hands now and timing will be based on their print vender and USPS at this point, please allow 7-10 more day from 4/5/16 and Stop Calling Us..... I'm in Round Rock (near Austin) so I hope it won't be nearly that long. Seems like I'm nearing the end of my wait, but still no status change and no plastic, so who really knows.

To be honest though, I have no faith left and will beleive it when I get my card in the mail, which will be anytime between now and September

Same for Me. Was told 2 weeks ago my background was complete when I called the Commission and just waiting for someone to match up the paper work and that it would take about a week. That was last week of course that it should of been matched up. Called back today and they said yes we have everything and they are working on background. Really?? So all in 1/13 and still nothing. I give up. I have seen people with the same all in date and plenty with all in dates well after me already getting their plastic. I can't even get a straight, consistent status update.

It's possible the "background check" info actually doesn't conflict. I think they do a NICS check first, and then do an additional check contacting local law enforcement, etc.

I am not one to run down the RSD employees, and I have been fairly patient through this wait... But when told two weeks ago, "just data input and printing" and today, "you have not gone through the background check yet," there is no way to reconcile that. It is a conflict.

Honestly, they probably have a card in front of them that gives them a list of responses.
"2-3 more weeks"
"It hasn't been long enough"
"It's going to print"
"Just waiting on the background check"

Probably, there is a time limit and if you don't meet that limit you don't get the plastic. Law says they have 60 days. But the other day ago I actually started to read into some actual laws of theirs and they have { 60 days from when they get the paperwork and that does not include holidays or weekend.} I wouldn't doubt it if that did not include federal, state, and local holidays. It's just a giant runaround. :headscratch :txflag:

Yeah maybe someone from DPS reads this website and likes sarcastic humor so they want to keep you around.

Hi Everyone,

All in w/ confirmation email Feb. 12th

Never called, wrote, or emailed. Just waited.

04/06/2016 ---> Plastic in hand today & website change today!!! :patriot:

I had been checking multiple times a day, so both happened the same day for me... Here's to hoping yours is soon to arrive as well! :cheers2:

Hopefully it means all the rest of the February and earlier ones are close to being done at this time too.
