Israeli firm helping FBI to open encrypted iPhone: report

Israel's Cellebrite, a provider of mobile forensic software, is helping the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation's attempt to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino, California shooters, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Wednesday.

In WSJ today it is now being reported that Apple does indeed possess the solution, I guess that they simply refuse to implement. Maybe Cook and Hillary can double bunk in the Federal pen.

The amount of trust you have in our Federal government is truly scary to me.

After what I went through Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I dont think Apple can unlock a phone.

My phone kept popping up for a software update but I had not had time to do it. I also normally wait for my wife to do it on her phone just to be sure of no issues since I use my phone for our business. She did her update last Monday and no issues so Wednesday night, I started my update just before going to bed so it could update while I was asleep. Well, when I woke up the next morning, the update was complete. I started to check my email and it asked for my user name and password both of which I entered. I kept getting Invalid username or password error code. I decided to wait until I got to the office just to double check both from my list. Both were correct but would not open. I called Apple support and proceeded to spend the next 8 hours Thursday, and 4 hours Friday trying to get it unlocked. We finally had to go back to a full restore which meant I lost all of my pictures, contacts and notes from my phone. Thank goodness I had backed everything up to my computer where all I lost was a couple of notes that I had placed on there. I proceeded to set up a user name and password as if it were a new phone. Apple said that they had had that same issue with some of the older I phones which mine is a 1st generation i phone.
Saturday, I went and picked up a new phone.

I am sure Comey will be along with his apology soon.

For weeks, the FBI had said only Apple could help investigators lift the iPhone security features that stood in the way of its guessing the passcode.

This just shows how incompetent the FBI really is.

Don't know otherwise. Just seems awful strange that all the trouble they spent trying to get Apple to help now they are able to get in.
