Where do we sign up for his defense fund?

This kid was protecting his mother, what DA is going to prosecute him? :banghead:

Interesting how the news article framed the event. "destroyed a family" rather than saved his mother's life from an abusive boyfriend.

Sad how the news media is today.

Here's another link http://www.fox5dc.com/news/local-news/102899027-story
"In the Commonwealth of Virginia, all homicides are presumed by statute to be second-degree murder,” said Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Pearce. “In this case, while it's being investigated in consultation with the commonwealth attorney, they felt that would be the appropriate charge to place on the juvenile at that time. As the investigation nears its completion, which should be done rather quickly, the evidence, the facts are presented to the commonwealth and they then make the determination to either raise it to a more significant charge, reduce it to a lesser charge or dismiss it all together."

Deputies say because the investigation is the still in the early stages, they would not say if there was a previous domestic violence history between Conroy and the suspect's mother.

For now, the 15-year-old will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in three weeks.

Yeah great plan lock up a 15 year old who has just witnessed his mother being attacked, and having to deal with the emotional trauma of having to kill to protect her. I realize that it is probably a common practice to place that charge until evidence proves otherwise, but is this kid a flight risk? Why does he need to stay in jail for three weeks before anything can be done? He needs to be placed in counseling asap.

Here's another link. IMO, the reporter is terrible [too much drama], but there is a short interview with the police chief at the end of the video.
He stated it was standard procedure to charge someone with second degree murder until the investigation is
finished. It seems strange to me, but maybe that is how the law works in Virginia.

Yeah there is usually a minimum charge placed on all cases like this, but what I don't get is why the kid has no chance to bond out, or be released pending a hearing? There is probably a whole lot of information not being provided to the public, but if there are not other mitigating circumstances, I don't know why he has to sit there for three weeks before his next hearing.

I was rather irritated that the first video ended with it referring to the incident like the kids actions were "destroying a family". Last time I checked a man beating his wife wasn't really a family that should "stay together". The Husband "destroyed" the family not the kid.

From what I understood it wasn't even a husband, but the mother's boyfriend, but I could have misunderstood.

It is standard procedure to file criminal charges before an investigation is done? What about due process?
God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

Something doesn't sound right about this whole thing.
Having to wait in jail three weeks for a hearing? Doesn't sound right.
The statement of the police captain doesn't sound right either.
I think there is a lot more going on that isn't being released.
Other than my suspicions I won't speculate on specifics. At least not now.
I guess time will tell.

I also find the "immediately charged with 2d murder" and three weeks in jail before a hearing a bit off. Missing some info or something not right here.

Hmm, back in good ol' Furgeson the ACLU parasites and their ilk coalesced around an 18 year old 300+ pound thug who assaulted a store clerk, stole cigarillos, tried to snatch police officers gun and then got shot.
He was a "gentle giant" and "just a kid" according to them and yellow journalism propaganda spewers.

I wonder where they stand on this case, all the loudmouth liberal fascists.

The loudest voices screening for tolerance are often the most intolerant ones.

I hope this kid doesn't rot too long for defending his mother.
