Where to track LTC progress? NEWB
So here is my timeline:
Completed class Nov 21, 2015
Did fingerprints and mailed in docs Feb 3, 2016
When I visit the DPS LTC website and log-in for returning users, the site tells me I have the options of
Retrieve a saved application
Renew your License or Instructor Certification
Change your address
Report a lost or stolen license
Check the status of a current application
Reprint a receipt
However when I log in I actually cannot do any of those things. The ONLY link on the page to do anything is to apply for Instructor Certification.
Am I missing something here?? Any insight?
Thanks all...

That's the right place, and that's all the info you'll see until your status changes and options to change your address will appear, then your card will be in the mail shortly. Or, your status won't change and your card will appear. No one really knows the process, if there is one.

You are right where you should be for now. Once approved, you will have the option to change your address.

When you have some action in progress, like a new LTC, renewal, address change, etc., when you log in as a returning user, you see this:

When you have nothing in progress, you see this, which tells you, "the check is in the mail":

Do yourself a favor... don't look at it, ever. Just wait and be surprised when the envelope shows up in the mail.

That's not entirely true. Some January apps have been processed and plastic delivered. It's really random or hit and miss at this point. They are surely way behind, but they are processing late Dec, early Jan apps at this point. The phone clerks are just telling people anything at this point to get them off the phone and not to call back for 30 more days.Kenneth77 wrote:I just called and the guy told me that it is now around 3 months before they even look at jan apps. so i am not looking for that change any time soon.
It's a matter of patience. Don't bother calling in though... You'll just get frustrated and won't get a straight ansswer. Wait 60 days (which is the time required by law for them to issue or request more stuff). If you don't have it by then, just give them a few weeks more to account for the backlog and then if you still feel its taking to long, just call your local rep and sick them on RSD.

Plastic Arrived TODAY! 77 days.
Re: Where to track LTC progress? NEWB
Mines been like that for a few days. I hope that's the case. Of course, our USPS worker is less than par, so it could be lost.Pawpaw wrote:When you have nothing in progress, you see this, which tells you, "the check is in the mail":

Don't believe anything they tell you when you call in. Period.
I spoke with someone that is ACTUALLY WITH DPS and they told me my background check was back from FBI. Called hotline just to see what they would say. "We haven't began processing your app yet, please wait."
Then I spoke with DPS again and my license was sent to print and waiting to be mailed. Called hotline again to see what they would say... "It looks like you have just began background check. I will likely be another 3-4 weeks.
As far as not even getting to January apps, that is not true. I have seen February apps get plastic already. I was all in 1/21.
Received an Saturday stating my license was printed and mailed 3/23.

Still waiting. Almost 90 days now.
As of today I have new links on my application status page, i.e., change address, change information, report lost license, etc.... Those options were not available before.
I've emailed and get a stock reply saying basically that they are backlogged and have added more people to process the apps. I've called and get a canned message and then promptly get hung up on.
Still absolutely no correspondence whatsoever from DPS, RSD, etc... stating they need more info or have even received the application.

From what I can tell (I'm probably wrong ) most people are getting their plastic in the mail within 1-5 days of having their status change online so hopefully you'll get yours soon. My status changed a couple of days ago - I sit by the window all day waiting for the mailman then run out to the mailbox with great anticipation...FormulaLT wrote:Still waiting. Almost 90 days now.

That'd better not be true since I was told yesterday I was approved and getting my license in a week or so.Mavs00 wrote: That's not entirely true. They are processing january apps left and right.... look at the Waiting Room thread. It's a matter of patience. Don't bother calling in though...
