After being patient for 70 days I figured it was time to give them a call and find out what was going on.

I called promptly at 7:00am in the hopes of not having to wait the exorbitant amount of time I've seen others around here having to endure.

After waiting on hold for 20 minutes I gave my official particulars, I was advised that it would be "about another 7 to 10 days" before my application would be completed, and then I would have to wait for it to be mailed out.

It looks like there might be a chance that I could make it into the 100 day wait club, joy.

I don't remember if its 60 days or 60 business days but I would think business days since the ir office is closed on weekends and holidays. If I am correct, you are only at 46 days by my counting. Just have a little patience. Back when some of here applied, it was taking 90-120 days due to backlog.

Use this time waiting to carry around the house, find out what works and what doesn't (this will help you grow your holster drawer LOL) and get used to the way you will carry. That way when you actually go out for the first time, you won't be constantly drawing attention to yourself by constantly adjusting shirt, holster, or position.

Part of my app includes 3years living out of state. Wonder if that is part of the delay compared to others. Any one else with outofstate background facing a delay?

You are incorrect, the wording from the DPS website states:

The Department will make every effort to issue your license within 60 days of receiving the completed application packet

Nothing about business days or office days, just days.

I did my fingerprints on February 1st and submitted my completed class certificate the same day.

Should I have received some form of confirmation email from them? I have not received any communication at this point.

I am in the same boat. I'm in day 68, never received a confirmation email and was told "not necessarily."

At 80 days (03-11-2016) we've finally had a Status Change on the website, which from what I understand means I've been approved, my info is being sent to the card printers, and the card itself should be arriving soon.. let's see how long it takes to get printed, sent and arrive in my mailbox.

That's correct Mark.
I called on a Thursday & that Saturday my status changed & I received my plastic Monday.

Although a Native Texan, I lived virtually my entire adult life in San Diego. When I moved back and applied, that didn't seem to affect things. What did mess them up was having applied before I moved, then taking the course and having a Texas address, DL etc. It was easily resolved, though.

What impressed me was the ease of going through the process, the efficiency and low cost, compared to California, San Diego actually as permits are issued county by county by the Sheriffs, or not.

I had thought there were about 2,000 permits in San Diego, but I recently saw a chart showing that when I received mine, there were something like 800, in a county with a population of ~3.2 million.

I spent over $500, several interviews with SDSO, a training class with shooting with each of three pistols, maximum, I intended to have on the permit, then range qualification with the SO with each of said pistols, a letter of approval from my "care partner" (California speak for "wife" in my case, YMMV), from the board of directors of my employer (me) and three persons who knew me detailing our relationship and recommending me. I also had to demonstrate "good cause" which was not satisfied by merely exercising a right. I had "earned" a couple of death threats, among other distinctions, so this was the least of the challenges.

For California, this was doable. In some counties, you could get a permit but only if your "care partner" was the Sheriff's sister, or chairman of the Sheriff's re-election committee, and in some counties, not at all.

I agree. I spent the balance of my adult life in the Peoples Republic of New York State and in the early 2000's went through the process of obtaining my CC permit there... It took/takes 18 months there. The hassles of maintaining it was such a pain, that I actually gave it up in 2010 (or so). I then lived in New Mexico which had constitutional open carry, so I never even bothered to get my license. Big mistake on my part. I've had to wait the 6 months residency, now an extra 2-3 months prior to obtaining my LTC here. Frustrating to say the least....

But you are quite correct. The process here in TX is very easy, but painstakingly slow from the outside looking in. In general, it's not nearly as slow as other places though.

Thank you for reminding me NOT to complain about the wait time. I, too, come from CA. I was a Native, moved to The People's Republic of New York for awhile. Then got married to a Marine Vet who finally exposed me to 2A in Las Vegas where we lived before settling in TX. I was one of those Cali girls who thought only the POPO and Cholos had the heat! Boy was I mistaken!! My CA/NY friends & family still is in shock that I have my own .45ACP, a Kimber ULTRA Carry II. I could have never exercised my right to own and carry without trepidation in my previous life.
