The bills that passed this morning were:

AB 1663: will expand the assault weapons ban to include semi-automatic centerfire rifles capable of accepting detachable magazines, including ALL “Bullet Button” or mag-locked firearms, as well as many curio and relics like the M1 Carbine and other similar firearms.

AB 1664: will ban all semi-automatic rifles that are equipped with a bullet button or other mag-locking device.

AB 1674: will make it a crime to attempt to purchase more than one firearm of any type within a 30-day period and delete the private party transaction exemption to the 30-day prohibition.

If I still lived in Crapifornia, the first one outlaws all of my ARs, my SCAR, and my beautiful 1943 Inland M1 Carbine. the second one also outlaws all of them. The third would have made me a felon many times over.

I hate that state.

This is certainly unfortunate, but passing out of committee is not the same as passing "into law." According to the linked article, they're now headed to another committee, so there is still time for the great (but not as great as it used to be) state of California to stop them.

I have never been to California in my entire lifetime, although I've been to every State surrounding it. Maybe Divine Providence interceded in my behalf. Thank you Lord, and Bless those poor souls who live there.

And pending a favorable decision, which is by no means guaranteed as even before Scalia's death SCOTUS refused to take up the AWB in Illinois, tens of thousands of Californians will be either stripped of their lawfully purchased possessions, or become instant felons. Forum rules prevent the use often the kind of profanity required to truly free my mind over this. California politicians are flat out nazis.

it would be one thing if they banned future sales/purchases but they completely ban items people had legally bought.
not to mention legal c&r items bought with a license now being added.

I went there one time to visit my sister-in-law who for some insane reason loves it there. (L.A.) Stayed 2 days. That was 1 day and 22 hours too dang long for me. The weather was nice, but it took 2.5 hours to drive 10 miles on a Sunday afternoon!! Not to mention the moonbat politicians who run the place...

The Commies have veto proof majorities in both houses, so I have no doubt this will pass in due course. The legislature and bureaucracy have been seething for years over the bullet button, a loophole that we came up with maybe ten years ago.

Once those take hold, in cahoots with the public service unions, there is no stopping it until disaster is in extremis. When I was ordered to San Diego as a brand new Navy officer 48 years ago, it was the greatest place on earth. Ronald Reagan was governor, the weather was sparkling, the roads were smooth and not terribly crowded, the beaches were breathtaking. Disneyland was there, and so were Annette Funicello, and Ricky Nelson. My old classmate Farrah Fawcett was making her way to Hollywood stardom.

And what's worse, IIRC all the "assault rifles" that are at the moment legally owned are registered with the state government. They know who has them.

If I were a gunowner in the Peoples' Republic, I would be figuring out a way to show my guns had left the state.
