They have no 30.06 or 30.07, but I assume they will ask to remove and safe up your OC weapon before entering the turnstile.
Thanks for the update. :thumbs2:

If I am reading that correctly, if you OC into the store you must have your weapon unloaded and the action open. But if you were to CC that would not be required?

The logic behind that escapes me. Someone help me out?

With either method of carry your weapon is securely holstered and is not being 'handled'.

The ONLY thing different relates to the infamous 'dress code' (a piece of cloth is not covering my pistol).

Not wearing a cover garment doesn't make me any more inclined to handle or un-holster my weapon, if that is their concern? :confused5

Prior to open carry they had this same policy.
Some people would come in the store with a gun to get it examined, buy a holster, get a scope mounted, etc.
Prior to open carry, they obviously had to handle the gun so they required that the gun "be made safe" buy opening the action, cylinder or bolt.
This is a continuation of that policy. They do not want open carry in the store so they request that you unload it.
It accomplishes their purpose without a 30.07 sign.

Right, I understood that. That is the policy/practice of most gun-shops as concerns hand carried firearms brought in for any reason other than CC. Unless you are saying they didn't then...or now allow Concealed Carry?
This is a continuation of that policy.
I'm with you. The same hand carried firearms brought in for inspection/repair/sale/trade...STILL need to be unloaded. Presumably licensed CC was an exception? Or has CC been prohibited at C-Country in the past?

They do not want open carry in the store so they request that you unload it.
It accomplishes their purpose without a 30.07 sign.
So you're saying the sign is supposed to be interpreted as: All guns except CC, but to INCLUDE OC are to be unloaded and with their actions open?

As written, it seems to imply you can OC....but it must be 'unloaded' OC (with action open)? And CC doesn't seem to be addressed.

Why the long way around? Just post the previous Safety sign and 30.07 and be done with it.

Sounds like they have ONE sign trying to accomplish TWO separate things? IF true...this was my objection in earlier posts about proper signage and the leeway businesses have about posting, not posting or posting non-compliant signs, or 'nicer' signs. Sign games...if you will.

That's the trouble with being a Simple Man (Me). I just don't get it. :headscratch

I won't argue the logic, but it's obvious they want all openly displayed firearms to be unloaded and actions out of battery position. Now with OC it applies to those weapons as well. It never applied to CC. Bill Carter also has rules about being 21 to buy certain long guns. One can chose to abide by his rules or not.

Meh. Carter's Country typically has higher pricing, staff who are indifferent at best, and some of the most dangerous ranges I have been on. Now this was my experience with the Treshwig location, Pasadena might indeed be different. A few years back when the local element was walking the line jacking the pistol grip 12ga on the 7yd line it was enough. The R/O did nothing either out of fear, or lack of knowledge neither being acceptable.

As to the idea that if you O/C and must have the weapon empty and slide locked back, only after he provides police protection to/from my car to the range/store. Again, his store his rules. My money doesn't go there any more anyway.

OK, I'm a newbie here (go easy on me) but this kinda reminds me of some discussions I've seen in the past over "the letter of the law" and "the intent of the law".
Lots of questions about it's intent?
What I see is that it simply says "all guns".
I too, wonder why they didn't just put up the 30.06 and 30.07 signs in addition to the old sign.
Personally I would assume they don't want customers carrying any loaded weapon in the store, for any reason.

I agree it could be interpreted that way as well. Just makes you wonder why they begin the verbiage with "Open Carry", seemingly delineating? If their intent was that ALL guns be unloaded, then how much simpler to just say "All Guns must be unloaded" and leave it at that.

At best (to me), the sign is poorly written and leaves too much room for misinterpretation.

Or then....maybe I'm just dense, that is also a possibility. ;-)

I assume that this only applies to open carry?

The way I interpret it, it's for OC and any firearm carried openly into the store.

I THINK that is what they intended but...good grief...look at what the sign says:
Safety Notice
Open Carry and all firearms must be unloaded to enter
Semi-Autos slides locked open
Revolvers cylinders open
All others bolts open
So does this mean Open Carry and all other firearms brought in for other reasons (not holstered) or does it mean ALL firearms to include Concealed Carry?

Also, there is no provision for 'break open' actions (some shotguns, pistols, etc) ?

The sign is just so lacking. If a Gun Shop can't post something reasonably clear, why would we think other businesses know what they are doing? :???:

My wife was watching ABC 13 news this morning & just came & told me that Carters Country
(S. Wilcrest) got their front doors pulled off & were robbed early this morning & you guessed it, they stole a bunch of guns. How stupid can they get,,, :headscratch ,, never mind,,, they can get pretty darn stupid. They will catch them!
I hope they do & recover ALL weapons.

When I got my 1st hangun I went to the Treaschwig location. Gun was in a case.
The guy inside asked to see it. When I showed him, he promptly locked the slide open and told me they need to be that way even if cased.
Really!

I just saw that. The story said that there were 10 men involved!
I imagine they could grab quite a few guns in just a few minutes.
They said the same store had been burglarized two months ago and no one had been caught.
