UNT Campus Carry Policy Accepted by BOR

Dear UNT community,

This morning, the UNT System Board of Regents accepted UNT's Campus Carry Policy as part of its quarterly meeting. This finalizes a campus carry policy for UNT that was created with extensive input from our community.
I want to sincerely thank the members of UNT’s Campus Carry Task Force and all students, faculty and staff members who participated in the many town halls and provided comments online and through email.
The task force began its work in September 2015 and recommended a draft policy to me in December. That policy was presented to campus for comment in January and February and was amended in response to community input prior to being presented to the Board of Regents for review.
We will soon be announcing dates for educational training sessions for students, faculty and staff. In the meantime, you can learn more about UNT’s Campus Carry Policy and find updates at campuscarry.unt.edu/untpolicy. The policy and law go into effect on Aug. 1 of this year.
I hope that you will take advantage of these training opportunities as they become available.

I'm not sure where to start....

That "large scale event" limitation really sucks. The auditorium in the music building is hardly large scale but it is on the list. I go to concerts there and was looking forward to being able to carry.

UT's regulations are a lot better.

Sounds like most other public universities. Although I did notice dorms are open. I fully expect all nuances in each schools list of rules to slowly dwindle away after august 1st.

Well, this would have generally prohibited me from carrying since I was a science major and the laboratories I used all had "biological hazards." And my nephew, that is currently a Radio, TV, Film major would also be generally prohibited since a building he goes into every day is off limits. And I was really looking forward to be able to not have to disarm when going to graduations. Those are getting farther apart now, but still have a few more to attend.

Should anyone even bother to tell them their policy regarding churches is incorrect without signage?
