9mm 1911 opinions
I recently got my first 1911, despite some issues at first, its everything everyone loves about 1911s. I have a Ruger LW Commander that I've added Magpul grips, TFX sights, and Wilson Combat slide release to, it conceals and carries very well with a Bianchi owb carrylok holster. Its accurate and a pleasure to run.
That being said, I'm a 9mm fan. I love shooting the .45 then picking up a 9mm and manhandling it, much like batters do when they warm up with weights on their bat.
I'm in the market for another 1911 to add to the box, possibly a 5 inch this time even though I think the Commander size is perfect. I'm leaning towards 9mm but I dont know much about how a 9mm 1911 behaves compared to a .45. I'd like to be able to fully control double taps with it with limited muzzle flip/rise so I think going 9mm will allow that.
What's the consensus with those of you who have shot a .45 and 9mm 1911? Think the .75 inch in the 5 inch makes a big enough difference in muzzle flip and sight radius? Or should I be okay with commander again?
If it makes a difference, ill be looking at all steel this time, not LW. Remignton r1 enhanced 5 inch 9mm, or Springfield range officer 5inch 9mm have my interest right now. POSSIBLY rock island, and if I feel bawlsy maybe a SIG scorpion.

I love my springfields and want to get myself a 9mm ro
The only 9mm 1911 I have is an ria and its rock solid, surprisingly well built for how cheap it was . I got it to be a platform to modify but still haven't gotten to it
Firing a 9mm full sized steel 1911 is really easy, minimal recoil flat shooting
What I have my eye on right now is the range officer operator in 9mm

I bought a 1911 from Rock Island and did some work on it ( just have one in .45 cal) and later found a Star Super B (C&R eligible) from either AIMS or J&G Sales, yes it's milsup used but looks and handles like the 1911 but in 9mm. Smooth, reliable and accurate as can be and lower recoil. Simply put...I love it.

Funny, STI was the last site I was at before I left work. I'm not sure how I feel about the 2011 design however.
Any STI dealers you recommend?

EMP, I've had two, but sold them both before I shot them. BEAUTIFUL gun, my brother has one and loves his.
Used you can find them for 775-815, Well that the price I paid, I wouldn't pay more than $850.

I'd opt for an original! Just like the 45ACP, a 38 Super!

About two years ago I picked up an STI Spartan V. It is a very soft shooter, very accurate and reliable. It's been an enjoyable addition.

I have an RIA 22TCM/9mm in Commander size. I've used the 9mm for a lot of my NRA Marksmanship Defensive Pistol certification just because it is such an awesome shooter. The 22TCM is also a real hoot to shoot! In fact, I think it is the most fun pistol cartridge that I've ever shot.
