Let the countdown begin
At noon ET one year from today, 1/20/2017, the next President of the United States will be sworn into office. To the current occupant of that office I say "good riddance!" and enjoy your retirement.

Re: Let the countdown begin
You give the resident too much credit. I am not convinced that he won't fabricate some emergency to postpone the election.

The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.

I can see him wearing a Gaddafi like uniform of his own design, sporting a hat with scrambled eggs on the brim, a pound of medals on his chest, strutting around as the Supreme Leader For Life.
He would also sport a ring one must kiss immediately when in his august presence.
One of course would always have to keep eyes on the floor, back out of the room when leaving and never forget to call him "Your Maggotsty, wait "Your Majesty".

I don't believe it. He knows there are hundreds of millions to be made in speaking fees and appearances over the next 40 years. Plus he'll never go away as an ex-president... He'll be interviewed and courted on everything for many years to come.RossA wrote:You give the resident too much credit. Staying would be a civil war and lead to a very bad outcome for him ... He isn't a dumb guy.

You have more faith in him than I do, thinking that money is more important to him than power.

Yes he has already shown his true colors, to heck with the will of the people, congress, or even his own advisers, he wants to shove as much of his agenda down our throats as possible before he has a Marine close the door behind him.
Take away the Second first, and the First is gone in a second

What makes you think his replacement will be any better? The Democratic and Independent possibilities are just as, if not more, frightening.SA-TX wrote:At noon ET one year from today, 1/20/2017, the next President of the United States will be sworn into office.
