You might want to read this. Apparently Rubio's support for the second amendment is something like Speaker Strauss here in Texas.

Didn't look at the second link, but the first doesn't really give me anything to sink my teeth into i.e. is short on hard facts.

Even assuming this was true, "that he might be open to stricter gun laws for convicted felons or the mentally ill', what is the big deal there since even the NRA says these people have to get into the NICS database.

I don't know Rubio at all, except that I saw an interview with him recently on one of the Sunday morning talk shows, and he is clearly more intelligent and knowledgeable about the issues than either Cruz or Trump.

The jist of the article was that he promised one thing in public but then worked behind the scenes to weaken gun bills. This was according to Marion Hammer, who is the Charles Cotton of Florida.

You might want to hope Charles doesn't take that as an insult.

Washington would swallow up Rubio in nothing flat. And I am not convinced he would mind.

Rubio is the young up and comer in the old guard establishment GOP. He is what we do not need. Already bought and paid for.

Someone needs to convince me that Ted Cruz is in the race for any reason other than Ted Cruz.

Rumor has it he is a senator from Texas!?!!?? That can't possibly be true! ;-)

I know that I'll offend large % of this site but, for me, Ted is a nice man who one day would make great AG, defense secretary or even a Supreme Court Justice.
Trump has my vote for POTUS, all the way.

There isn't a person who runs for President that doesn't have an ego the size of Texas. But I believe Cruz is running because he sincerely believes in the Constitution and wants to return America to the Constitutional Republic that it once was. His positions on the issues prove that to me. He wants to close the border, build the fence, triple the Border Patrol and deny illegal immigrants any benefits (health care, welfare, child care, education, etc.) and never allow them to become citizens. He wants to implement a flat tax, and his budget plan is almost balanced for four years. (No other candidate's budget plan balances - they all run huge deficits.)

We cannot afford any more debt. We're very close to collapse now, so that is a very big concern for me. Cruz is 100% behind the 2nd Amendment. He opposes the UN Gun Treaty. He opposes limiting the capacity of magazines. He opposes further restrictions on accessibility.

If you haven't already, go to his website and read his positions. They are right down the line Constitutional. And I don't think that's the typical political baloney. He has stood up for those principals against his own party.
