There's a thread in another forum about a guy that had problems with some Freedom Munitions 9mm.

http://mossbergowners.com/forum/index.p ... ing.12203/

It seems there was a groove about 2/3 of the way down, inside the cases. The ammo was rupturing the cases at the groove.

I have a lot of the reman and new 9mm 115 grain stuff, will have to remember to see if any of it is sparking and to look at my cases. The last time I shot it, I don't remember anything like this happening.

I was on the line when the shooter next to me had a squibb lodge in his carbine barrel. He was using locally (North Texas) re-manufactured ammunition (not the same reloader as being discussed earlier in this thread).

I fail to see the value in cheap ammunition. Recently I was on the line with a good friend who was feeding his very expensive Wilson Combat with $.14 / round Czech ammo. He experienced multiple FTF's & FTE's. My Springfield XD(m) ran flawlessly in comparison, using a combination of PMC and IWI (but at nearly twice the cost per round). Just sayin'...

I attended a class in San Antonio last spring put on by Bruce Gray and Jerry Jones of Op Spec training. During the two day course a number of shooters had issues with remanufactured Freedom 115 gr 9mm, one of the gentleman had two squibs within about 100 rounds of each other. It's important to note that the issues were coming from multiple lot numbers.

My buddy and I were shooting Freedom, but it was 124 gr new production. No issues with it, but after seeing so many issues across a sizable cross section of users I've stayed away from their ammo as of recent.

When I'd fire, sparks would come out from behind the chamber and possibly from the end of the barrel. I shot the first stage then ran a bore snake through the barrel a few times. The same thing happened on the 2nd stage, so one of the guys in my squad lent me some Fiocchi 124gr to finish the match. The Fiocchi shot clean (no sparks). I shot other brands (WWB & Fiocchi 115gr) on Saturday and Tuesday through my Glock with no sparks.

I googled 'Freedom Munitions ammo issues' and 'sparks from ammo' with no relevant results. Anybody else have or hear of such a thing?

I have also used that same 115 gr ammo last month out of my GLOCK 19 & had no issues, as a matter of fact it was very good clean ammo. (Reman & new) great ammo from them. Maybe a bad batch??

Thanks everyone. To clarify, I was using FM new. I've been tempted to try the reman. But the price difference is negligible, especially when the new is on sale.

I'm thinking that it didn't have a proper crimp on it. Without the proper crimp ( to light in this case) you can't build up proper pressure and all the powder doesn't have time to burn before the projectile exits the end of the barrel.

Somewhat of an update. Since today was a pretty miserable weather day, I decided to do some cleaning. Lo and behold! When I took the slide off of my Glock (that I was shooting in Thursday night's IDPA match), there was a pretty good amount of grainy material in the rear section of the slide. I tried to take a picture, but either it was too dark or too light to actually see the grains in the pics. So based on the links and other info that was provided, I'm inclined to think that the batch of New 115gr 9mm FMJ has some sort of powder or load issues that's causing the sparks. I still intend to try some more of it at the range so that I can look at the fired casings.

All that being said, is there a danger issue that I should be aware of? I don't intend to use the ammo that I have for anything other than marksmanship practice - measured & controlled shots, no double/triple tap, etc.

I've been shooting their reman 9 for a long time. I've never had a problem and it has always gone bang.

Maybe it was odd ammo? I was shooting my s&w shield 9mm and didn't want to buy a box of new ammo but i had a box of perfecta 50 rds and a box of lawman 9mm that I have had for about 8 years. It was from when i bought my first gun. and then sold it, but kept the ammo. so I went to the range with 100 rds. the lawmans work just with a lots of sparks

I doubt it. Freedom hasn't been around that long.

I have shot few hundred rounds each of the Freedom munitions ammo in 380, 40s&w, 45acp and even a hundred rnds of 10mm, without any problems. They were new and not reman, the 308 was reman and no problems with it and it was surprisingly accurate. In the past I have shot thousands of rounds of Georgia Arms reman with very few problems and I mean very few. I am finding that for paper punching, Wallyworld is selling Winchester w/b cheaper than anyone including internet.

If it's reman ammo it possibly could be the jacket is bimetal.Get a magnet and you will know quickly. Wolf and all the bear rounds spark my SD-9 and Glock barrels.

The rounds were all new. I managed to shoot the rest of what I had without any additional incident (other than soaking) & no damage. I've since gone back to shooting wwb.
