Almost went to jail!!!
First day of Open carry, so decided to stop at Lubbys. Seen an improper sign at door, so I ignored it. A few people stared, but nobody said anything to me. 20 munutes later, boys in blue pull up. They walked over to me and asked me why I ignored the sign. Handed them both licenses,they unarmed me and escorted me outside. They chewed me out, but one agreed that sign was not legal. Let me go with a STERN warning. If sign is still up in a few days, I will do it again.

Re: Almost went to jail!!!
You're begging for trouble on that one. Did they issue you any trespass warning while talking to you? It seems to me that someone must have called them if they went to you specifically and pointed out the rather small sign.
Re: Almost went to jail!!!
Are you kidding me? You have been given notice. The police gave you the verbal notice when they advised they had been called by the business. Stunts like this are what give a bad name to open carriers.PSTL*PAKR wrote: If sign is still up in a few days, I will do it again.

Looks like we will finally get our test case if he persists. Good luck.

Hard to believe Luby's would post. Dr. Hupp and Luby's massacre and all. I think that you may end up going to jail if you persist in going into this Luby's.

Re: Almost went to jail!!!
Difficult to tell from the picture why the sign was not compliant. Can you provide details?
For what it is worth, my church posted 30.07 signs this week at all entrances into the building. As a member of the leadership team in one of our ministry areas, I was told that the way we are supposed to deal with people who open carry past our 30.07 signs is to leave them alone and call police to deal with it.
I have a feeling that a LOT of places which try to keep out open carry are going to respond this way, because nobody in their right mind wants to confront an openly armed person......especially if the person who would do the confronting isn't armed themselves. I am armed (my church is actually pretty friendly to concealed carry), and I might personally attempt to engage that person in conversation and steer them in the right direction (compliance with signs by simply covering the gun up), but if they are aggressive or defiant about it, then I am going to OBEY the direction of my spiritual leadership and call the police too.
Why? Because anybody who openly carries past a valid 30.07 sign (ours are valid) is by definition a law-breaker.

And, if you think it has to be someone from the business, it doesn't
The police DEFINITELY have that 'apparent' authority.(b) For purposes of this section, a person receives notice if the owner of the
property or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner provides notice
to the person by oral or written communication;

Prototypical foolish childish behavior. This is what screws things up for the rest of us.

I can't say what I truly wish to say without taking a chance of getting kicked from the board.
