H.E.B. and their reason for no open carry

#1

Post by rvsullivan »

Just made a call to H.E.B. corporate to ask about the 30.07 postings in their stores. The representative at Customer Relations first told me they were a privately held company and could make any decision they wished about open carry. I agreed with her and explained they were affecting licensed carry holders. She then switched over to they were following TABC rules in that they sold alcohol and were prohibited by law from allowing open carry. When I disputed that and told her all her stores were Blue licensed she hung up on me!! :banghead:

I always go back to that female reporter trying to sign up in DC to get a CHL permit and the Clerk was giving her a hard time and she said to him, what about my second amendment rights ???
The clerks answer was , Oh, the second amendment was only for when the British were coming ..

Oh goody! All publicly held companies that are listed on a US exchange can't make ANY decision about open or concealed carry. I foresee a flurry of LBO's and hedge fund takeovers after the first of the year.

This right here... its the exact reason I probably won't be frequenting any HEBs anytime soon. Yes they have the right to post them, but I find it a slap in the face to the most law abiding citizens of the state. And they are even flippant about why they are doing it. If every pro 2A red blooded American would stop shopping at HEB because of it, I wonder how long till they were running specials for anyone who open carried into the store.

HEB's decision to post 30.07 doesn't impact one's ability to carry a handgun in their stores. I was there today with my concealed handgun, and I'll be there this weekend with my concealed handgun I'm sure.

HEB I'm near is the Lakeline HEB in North Austin near Cedar Park. Love the store, respect their decision to post 30.07, and appreciate that they don't post 30.06

If you think it is redblooded pro 2A Americans keeping the company afloat. Go in there on a day when there is a rumor INS is in town doing roundups. There will be almost no shoppers, and like 3 employees. Happened where I grew up, and that was central Texas not South Texas.

:headscratch. I call bull on this.

I also contend there aren't enough staunch OC enthusiasts to make a difference to HEB if they stopped shopping there.

You know speaking this truth will get the more rabid OCers caterwauling about blah, constitution, blah, natural right, blah, take my marbles and go home, blah, blah, blah...

I wonder if anyone on the forum owns stock in HEB?

I bet you are the only one then. I can't imagine the rumor that INS is rounding up illegals is what actually caused low turnout at any HEB in the state.

Not sure who may own stock in HEB since it is privately owned. It is my understanding it is a closely held company.

I rarely shop at HEB. From what I have seen I doubt they are worried about losing business from gun people. I could say plenty of things I have seen at their stores and I would probably be banned over it.
