This is YOUR government

If you're not angry, maybe you need to think about why you're an American.
The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison

From everything I've seen, Trey Gowdy is a very impressive individual.

After the next revolution, we need Gowdy for president and Cruz for VP to take this country back to it's constitutional roots.

can you imagine what this country would be like if we didn't have some reps and senators that stand up and fight against tyranny, to protect our rights? I hope we never lose the strong and courageous ones.

I like Trey Gowdy, he's a good American and I would vote for him. Ms Burriesci is a clueless moron, woefully unprepared, outclassed and has probably never read the Constitution or the Federalist Papers. Federal Government is an intricate web of these clueless morons and linked departments that don't have a clue what they're doing or why.

Time for a Convention of States under Article V and hit that reset button. The Texas Senate Sate Affairs Committee refused to allow HJR77 to come to a vote in 2015. Apparently Texas Senators feel Washington DC is doing a great job and Power belongs to the Federal Government, not the States where our founders placed it...

I thought he was talking about the No Fly List. I don't understand his referral to the 2nd Amend in that discussioj.

A bit off topic...
Baylor used to be a different school. Today it is a left-leaning, politically correct school.
They recently sent out a letter to Muslim students basically expressing regret at some of the anti-Muslim sentiment being seen in this country and to let them know if they feel threatened.
To my knowledge no letter was sent to anyone of any other faith...including those of the faith that the Muslims are targeting.

I assume he was talking about the proposed law to bar anyone on the no fly list from buying firearms. That would be taking a right away from those people without due process.

If You are on the no fly list Obama wants to make sure you can't buy guns either, without due process

I read a rumor that he was likely going to retire in 2016.

I've always wondered if Trey Gowdy has ever finished one of his investigations? It seems like they have all these hearings but has he ever finished one against another government employee? Guilty or innocent, doesn't matter. Has any case been seen through to the end?

The last time I remember them punishing anyone is when they went after the baseball players for using steroids.

Trey Gowdy's point is well taken and I think I understand the argument... 2A is the only right that the Feds seem to be able to infringe (via no-fly list, etc) without due process, with no provision in the constitution for doing such. And there is nothing to stop them from arbitrarily adding someone to a list which would deny an individual to exercise that right.

So my question is, what do folks on the forum envision due process looking like, in this instance, that would also protect the citizens from say a terrorist attack, and that could do so in a timely enough manner to prevent an attack?
