Haven't seen this posted/discussed here on the forums so I thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention for those who are interested...

Second Open Carry Informational Meeting

Topic: Open Carry of Holstered Handguns

Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland Jr., Harris County District Attorney Devon
Anderson and Senior Assistant City Attorney Tracy Calabrese will participate in a panel discussion
and answer questions from the public on the new Texas Open Carry legislation, which
will allow a license holder to “open carry” a handgun in a holster starting January 1, 2016. This
informational meeting will address state law and municipal authority over the regulation of firearms
in Texas.
HPD will live-stream the event on the HPD YouTube channel. For more information, call HPD’s Office of Public Affairs at 713-308-3200.
Open to the Public / Free Parking is Available

Wednesday, December 9, 7 pm-9 pm
High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
4701 Dickson St., Houston TX 77007

A fellow gun enthusiast at work emailed me the flyer/pdf file so I just copy pasted it so I hope that is ok.

Yeah my thinking was along those lines - just making sure it didn't violate forum policy.

Somewhat off topic, but I believe that facility was bought by St. Thomas HS (next door) for an absurdly high sum in the past calendar year... a randomly important thing since I teach at a rival of St. Thomas  It may not be administered by STHS yet, but ownership is relevant for carrying.

In any event, if that's the case as I believe it to be, I wanted to give a heads-up for those at the meeting: I think it's a 46.03 location!

Thanks for sharing this. I'd like to see more these meetings posted on the forum so that we can all be aware of them. I'm waiting to see if Plano PD holds one of these.

Yep, there were two guys there making things awkward/uncomfortable. But all in all I was very pleased with how it all went!

Watching it on Youtube now... Sounds like the Chief at about 40:00 is telling people not to shop at places that post signage :biggrinjester: And I have to agree.

The more I hear from Harris County DA Devon Anderson the more I like and respect her as an attorney and a DA.

The tall bald dude in the light blue polo shirt from OCT came across like a childish nutcase. He is an embarrassment to all licensed carriers.
