How would I respond? I'm rethinking that.

My daily carry is a compact 1911 format with two seven-round mags on my off-side. The gun is very accurate to 25 yards, but it has a short sight radius. Single-stack, seven-per. A total of 22 rounds on my person.

I carry a Seecamp .32 BUG in my pocket with only six on-board. Useful only at I-can-touch-you distances. And I always carry a blade. Depending upon the circumstances, may be able to do more damage with the blade than the BUG.

Trunk gun is an old Bushmaster. But it's there. And I've tried and tested Magpul's 40-round magazines. Have 'em loaded to 38 rounds. Several of them.

Bottom line: if ISIS comes to Texas, Texas will respond.

With over 800,000 concealed carry licensees, Texas is not a gun-free zone.

I switched to carrying a Glock 17 with a backup mag, and both mags have 2 round extensions, for a total of 39 rounds of 9mm, plus the AR in the car.

G17, 2 back up mags (normal 17 rounders), AR with 6 mags in the trunk. I need to get a gun to stick on my ankle as a back up gun. Thinking of a G26 since then mags would be interchangeable.

I still carry my glock19 with two extra mags, gives me 45 rounds. Rob Pincus has a great piece on number of rounds to carry. If 45 doesn't get them off me I'm in trouble!

This is one of the reasons I'm building a .300 blackout pistol. I'm putting my parts list together but I think I have settled on a folding buffer tube because I could fit this in a normal backpack that doesn't let anybody know there is a firearm inside unlike packs designed to hold a M4 style AR. Plus with a CHL or LTC, it's not illegal to do so. With a fixing to be 2 year old and another one on the way, people will think it's a diaper bag and with everyone carrying computers these days, it shouldn't raise any alarms.

It is a daunting thought to go up against somebody with an AK with only a single stack pistol, time for me to start carrying a double stack, AR style.

Oh ! I carry to protect my family from home grown criminals , Mideastern folks don't come into the equation . Heck ! They wouldn't be able to even own a firearm if it wasn't safe for the regular ol Americans ................right ?

I've watched some videos and practiced, but definitely need to find a decent class to take somewhere. I keep a trauma kit in my trunk, along with one of those premade first aid kits. Got a free Carhart toolbag that I used for it. Just put all the stuff that isn't sealed into freezer bags to protect it from water. I'm not a medic but can at least keep blood from leaking out of myself or someone else. I have some supplies in my apartment too, but need to build a bag so they'll be centrally located and don't get used for other stuff. Just need to find a bag I want to spend money on first.

A friend of mine showed me one of these surefire 60 round mags that he keeps in his AR case in the car: http://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifl ... 42026.aspx. They are really proud of those things, but he says they work really well. Personally, I think that whatever you gain over a couple of 30 round mags, you lose in gun-handling ease.

The class I attended was part of a 2-day shooting and tac-med class run by HiTS.

I was only available for Day 2, unfortunately. Day 1 was all shooting.

Both companies run well-regarded classes. I thought it was a great idea to combine the two. I believe this was the first class of this combined material. Specific info and some AAR rolling in this thread...

Thanks very much. I met Caleb once at the "Silencers are Legal" event at Elm Fork shooting range 2-3 years ago. He as there to promote his company. He's the one I was looking for, but I couldn't remember his name or the name of his company. When I told him what my wife and I were looking for (essentially what you just took), he said that he provided that kind of class. We just hadn't gotten around to it yet, but we were talking again about taking one just a week ago, so this is timely for us. And of course I am a DPC member, so if they teach it there again, I'll jump right on it.
