Last week Obama said publicly ISIS is contained, today I saw and article where he says it will take time.
I guess it is better to let the states make the decision.

Our President doesn't care what the governors say, as he does what he wants.

When they arrive, how will the governor implement his policy?

Which governor? It's all hollow bluster unless they're willing to physically remove them from the state and place them in Federal custody or take them to a state willing to accept them. Ours might, we'll see. If there were any actual "Republicans" in Congress they could stop it any number of ways, including defunding any processing and relocation. Unfortunately there is only a very small Republican minority in Congress in spite of the 2014 election....the majority is just a bunch of Obama supporters and facilitators who lied their way into office.

I recently moved from Colorado, and was disappointed to see that Gov. Hickenlooper will accept....

Glad to be back in God's Country of Texas...we may not be able to force them from coming over from other states, but it at least feels nice that Abbott puts his foot down and doesn't sit there with open arms.

The simple answer is that the Governor has no legal authority to prevent the Federal government from bringing Syrian refugees into Texas. Under the US Constitution, the Federal Government is responsible for all matters relating to foreign policy and immigration.

With that said, the Federal government will need assistance from the states to support the refugees. Governor Abbott can withhold that assistance, but that will not keep the Syrian refugees out of Texas. It will only create a tit-for-tat argument where King Obama will decree with Executive Action the withholding of Federal funds from some unrelated program until Governor Abbott agrees to provide assistance to the refugees.

One thing to consider is that the vast majority (99.9+%) of the Syrian Refugees are victims running from the Syrian President's regime and ISIS / ISIL / IS (whatever the politically correct term du jour is for these terrorists). While a few bad actors may try to slip through the cracks, why not set up a refugee camps? These refugees have no place to go. So, why not set-up camps in the short-term until we can weed out the true victims from the threats. Is Gitmo a possibility? While I think these refugees need help, I am not exactly crazy about supporting them either in Texas. We already have 11 million illegals in this country that think they have some "right" to be here without the need to ask permission or follow the rules.

At least with the camps, we can provide for their immediate needs and monitor them to weed out the threats.

too much logic for this administration - it will never happen this way until something happens here or congress acts to limit the immigration process.

I just saw on the news where Virginia thinks we should take them in. Why not send them all there.

Yes, let's set up refugee camps in Islamic countries....how about the UAE and Saudi Arabia?.....seems they should be anxious to help their Muslim brothers....yet strangely, somehow are not. No place to go? How about these military age young men stay and fight for their country?

I've no idea where you're getting the 99.9% are victims number....I think maybe you just made it up. The reports from Europe are that upwards of 70% of the flow is of fighting age young males, many of whom, if not most, have destroyed any identity papers they may have had. A few bad actors? Standard intel and military doctrine is that in an exodus like this up to 10% can be assumed to be enemy infiltrators. There is no way to weed anyone out because there is no way of establishing identity for the majority of these supposed refugees.

Also, there are Federal laws against selling and consuming marijuana and that hasn't stopped a number of states from legalizing marijuana. The Feds are doing nothing to stop it. Furthermore, even municipalities ignore Federal law with "sanctuary cities." The Federal government has already abdicated its responsibilities for immigration under the Constitution. The Feds don't have the will or the power to force the states to do anything they refuse to do. It's a matter of will more than law.
