LC9 Grip Advice?

#1

Post by MONGOOSE »

My Sister has a Glock 19, and a Ruger Secuity 6 that she shoots very well. She also has a Ruger LC 9 with which she struggles with accuracy. It has been suggested that she changes grips.

Anyone with the same problem and suggestions?

Sorry, not change the grips, but use some slip on modifiers.

Rather than grip, my first thought would be trigger pull... You might do some dry fire training between the 3 to see if she's having trouble with the notoriously terrible LC9 pull/weight. (IF you haven't already!)

We are 700 miles apart. I will suggest it to her.

If grip does turn out to be part of the issue - I highly suggest http://talongungrips.com/grips/ruger/lc9.html - I got some for my XDs 9 and I love them.

If it's an original LC9, I don't think changing her grip will help. The trigger on the LC9 is so bad, it was something I had to literally think about when I fired it. I was never able to get the consistent groups I wanted with that gun. If I practiced with it more I'm sure I would get there, but it would have been a lot of work.

The LC9S is another matter, great trigger, same great reliability.

If it's an original LC9, I suggest practice, practice, practice.

Original LC9. She hAs put a lot of rounds down ranger with it and it is not even close to what she does do with the Glock or security 6.

Thanks for the input and I'll pass it along.

She needs to dump it and replace it with an LC9s Pro. I bet that improves her accuracy. The triggers on the LC9 are horrendous.

Well, she is going to the range to test fire pistols until she finds one she likes. Then trade in the LC9.

Now if I can talk her out of purse carry.

She is getting an AR for Christmas....lucky sister.

Before trading in the LC9 she might want to head to the nearest local gun show and try to sell it in a private sale. I was offered <$100 for my LC9 in trade value, but was able to sell it privately for $150. Since the LC9s came out the already bad trade in values on the LC9 have gotten even worse.
