I found this particular quote to be of interest:

The class will also cover situations that deputies might encounter when approaching citizens carrying a firearm in the open, and managing your emotions to be able to properly control and deal with the encounter."

I think that it is perhaps a bit telling regarding the attitude of the Harris County Constable that the language seems to me to be more about what they have to do to enforce the law that they don't really want to have to enforce AND comply with. I would love to be a fly on that wall to be able to hear what they will say about what they can do, are going to do, and all about those emotions now that a citizen will be able to OC.

So DPS employees can carry concealed on the job? Sounds like a good place to work.

DPS Director Steve McCraw told the state Public Safety Commission on Thursday that “non-commissioned” employees with a license to carry would still be able to pack a concealed handgun at work. But, he said, “open carry presents a different issue for us.”

I love Texas!!!! Thank you Col. McCraw for trusting and respecting your CHL employees. I wonder of any other state police agency does likewise? I suspect not.
