Tacoma, Wa. Mall shooting update...

#1

Post by stevie_d_64 »

Why am I not surprised...

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... ia22m.html

I see lots of interference with lawful authority here...

What if those phone calls delayed medical care, and a death incurred because of the delay???

Thought y'all would enjoy the reading...

This was over on packing.org, but Didn't seem to be widely reported in the media:

Mall shooting victim was armed

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/249 ... ing23.html

"He's always been worried about the way society is going, and for him, carrying a handgun was less for himself than for others," Corbin said.

McKown "has always had a fear of being there when someone flips out and just starts shooting people, and I'll be damned if it didn't happen to him."

After reading the article, it "sounds " (although, I'm not making any judgements here) like McKown came face to face with the shooter and drew his weapon before he sought cover. Maybe there just wasn't time to seek cover first...

It also makes you think more about how aware you have to be at times when you need to look for "cover" or "concealment" at the very least...

All those IDPA courses of fire, and NRA classes really teach you the value of those things...

Otherwise, the odds are you'll get shot and possibly get killed in incidences like this...We've seen that quite a few times recently...

But thats a risk I accept...I don't have to like it, but I accept it...

Paladin,

I could almost feel how much they hated not being able to portray this guy as some sort of gun-nut...

They'd get close, but held back a little...

It did though give a little more insight to who this guy is...

I wonder if those folks who were around this guy (when the shooting started) would be allowed to speak out and tell us through this paper how appreciative they are for his sacrifice...That would be a good story in and of itself...

Just some random thoughts running through the ole noggin' this afternoon...

Stevie,
You might find this case interesting.

It is not directly related, but along the same ideas. Enjoy.
