Do civilians with guns ever stop mass shootings?

Washington Post editorial where the writer lists all the mass shootings he found where it was stopped by a someone other than a police officer, in other words, a good guy with a gun.
He leaves out the the Oregon mall shooting, and gives his reasons why.

Probably not because the mass shootings I remember happened in gun free zones where a law abiding person can't carry.

Very hard to prove a negative. It is impossible to say how many would-be killers were deterred from doing what they wanted because they knew armed citizens would be around.

I am stunned that WaPo allowed this to see the light of day.

You and me both. Coming from them, this might as well be a ringing endorsement of 2A and gun rights.baldeagle wrote:I am stunned that WaPo allowed this to see the light of day.

OF course the anti-gun nuts get to deny these were or would have been mass shootings because: 1) the good guy stopped the crime from developing into a mass shooting, and 2) there is no indication in any of the events that it would have been a mass shooting.

Even if just one crime is stopped by CHL and saves lives, that's good enough for me.
