If this article is to be believed, so does Barbara Boxer and Chuck Schumer among others.

Re: Trump Says He Has a License to Carry
A lot of what people regard as lies are merely statements of what they hope and intend to accomplish, or get done. When they take office, it turns out to be more difficult, or impossible, than they figured, things change, other considerations overwhelm the original goal, the idea doesn't have sufficient support, etc.
I don't think most people, voters, comprehend the pressures brought to bear on elected office holders, machinations to force them to act a certain way, inducements, temptations, horse trading needed to get support from fellow officials, all of whom have their own priorities.
Campaign promises are seldom lies, but later events make delivering more difficult, or impossible to pull off.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Possibly. I know that I would love to see a debate between Ted and Hillary.Lumberjack98 wrote:He started off as a side show and has somehow gained some legs.
This is interesting to watch.
Cruz is being uncharacteristically quiet. Wondering if he is just biding his time or something else.

It's not that I don't think he has the right to run, I just think it'd be unwise to elect a president who doesn't have a filter, regardless of his or her qualifications or political views. The Wall wrote:You could say the same thing about any candidate or politician. We are just stuck trying to pick the best one out of the bunch. It kills me how some people don't think he has the right to be running because he isn't qualified. Another example of not knowing what's in the US Constitution. I don't recall it saying you have to be a lawyer, politician, or wealthy. I think a so called outsider needs to be elected to put all of these career politicians in their place. Let them know the people decide who will be elected. Not their purse, political standing or the media. IMHOmrvmax wrote:I don't trust him, he has no track record to verify most of what he says. What he says just doesn't add up.

I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

I don't see many people saying he doesn't have the right to run. I do see quite a few worried about his experience, character, temperament, etc. and they should consider all these and more in determining who to vote for.
Letting the people decide who will be elected goes straight at term limits, as I noted in a post in another thread that is what will happen here.

I'm not the most educated person but even I know that many of the campaign promises have zero chance of being implemented. I see your point but I think many things are stated knowing they will never be done. I'm sure some people are naive enough to think all their ideas are feasible but I think most are smart enough to understand the game and how it works.JALLEN wrote:A lot of what people regard as lies are merely statements of what they hope and intend to accomplish, or get done. While I don't fully support Trump, I do like that he doesn't care about hurting someone's feelings or being politically correct. Washington needs to be shaken up by someone who isn't a "yes man" or someone who can be bought.

Re: Trump Says He Has a License to Carry
Cruz is busy building a countrywide organization that can last for the long term. He's establishing organizations in all 50 states. He's already courted Tea Party types and libertarians, recruited some of Ron Paul's supporters (not Rand's) and is positioning himself to pick up Santorum, Huckabee, Carson and Trump supporters when/if they fade. Many of the other candidates will be running out of money soon, as support starts to shift to those who have their stuff together. His only real threat is Trump, who is self-funding and won't run out of money. Trump really is the wild card in this race.Lumberjack98 wrote:He started off as a side show and has somehow gained some legs.
