I received my confirmation of application on 9/14 and am counting down. Did anyone else applied that same week, especially in the Austin area?

I did around the same time. Got my last item on the check list submitted on September 17. I called this past Tuesday, said my app for approved and went to printing. So I'm hoping next week I'll have plastic in the mail.

KaiJawn- Good news for you. I called yesterday and was told that they have all of my documents but nothing has been processed yet. The nice lady said that I was currently waiting in a "rough line" due to the amount of apps that they have. She didn't give me a timeline but I didn't expect that. Im pretty sure that they are trained NOT to give favorable guestimations as to how long of a wait there is.

Hello and Welcome...
The closer it gets to Jan 01 2016 the longer the process will take.
Yes, it's due to "open carry".
The range I attend also teach chl classes among other things and business is very good....
I know every Instructor there and the buzz each week is.... what percent are we at?
Every week, every class, the instructors always ask this one question to every outgoing chl class and the
numbers have been increasing without fail each time. (can you guess?).......

You purchased a thousand dollar AR and did a 4 thousand dollar upgrade and now you finally get to show it off... WOW! "rlol"

I submitted my last item on the 19th. I'm hoping it comes in the next week or so.

TEXASG7, it makes total sense. Handgun sales are up and CHL classes are filling up quickly, especially in the Austin area where a lot of us Yankees have moved to. Back in NY it could take up to a year just to get a permit to OWN a handgun, forget about carrying. Without a handgun ownership permit you can't even touch a handgun in a gun store. I don't mind waiting a while longer to have my carry permit. God Bless Texas for respecting the 2nd Amendment.
