Intermittent slow downs
Intermittently the site seems to be slowing down to the point of my browser timing out. I just noticed this today. I've noticed it on both my phone and laptop and on cell data as well as wifi. I haven't noticed it to this extent before on this forum. At times it's super responsive and others it doesn't seem to want to respond at all. It also has been happening all throughout the day so I am less inclined to think it is a broadband traffic issue overburdened server. It is most obvious when I submit a post or try to submit an edited post.

Re: Intermittent slow downs
I am experiencing the same. It is also taking much longer to load the website and sign on. Video links take longer to recognize and load.
I believe that this will be a temporary phenomenon.

Yeah, but what is the root cause? Or is it a systemic causal failure?

-5 for referencing the most worthless character in the entire series. He's like the Jar Jar Binks of that trilogy.
...and yeah, I'm getting the slowdowns too. Random "Too Many Connections" timeouts as well.

When I was programmer on a large operational system and had to fix things like this, "transient hardware error" was a handy diagnosis when all else failed.

Have to admit, I was only playing off of comments made in another thread. I have no idea what you are talking about as far as the Matrix. Never saw it.Taypo wrote:+1 for a Matrix Referencemojo84 wrote:Yeah, but what is the root cause? Or is it a systemic causal failure?

Re: Intermittent slow downs
A little while ago the site wouldn't come up at all. Now it's working great.

Who's the hosting provider? Did they have any notices about issues today?

Re: Intermittent slow downs
Tech support is working on it now. I don't know if they have had other issues.

Re: Intermittent slow downs
There was a router problem at virtbiz.com (used to be CI Host).
However, when I look at the site on Web Page Test the TTFB (Time To First Byte) is pretty high (over 3 seconds which is about 10 times what it should be.) They also don't have compression enabled on the web server, which would help speed up the response.traceroute to texaschlforum.com (208.77.216.52), 64 hops max, 40 byte packets

Ever played that game "2 Truths & A Lie"? :)
And our only affiliation with the above mentioned former provider is we've rescued PLENTY of their former customers. That place was a pit.

Correct. I monitor our support ticket system and as has been mentioned, our techs are "on it." There are some issues with regard to the loading of the database and overall optimization. Many of the issues could best be handled via some site administration, and as the site has grown, so too has the overhead. And yes, gzip is recommended, and can be turned on with a little .htaccess work. Our techs have consulted on it and provided some feedback, and that's about what I feel is appropriate for posting in that regard. However, when I look at the site on Web Page Test the TTFB (Time To First Byte) is pretty high (over 3 seconds which is about 10 times what it should be.)
