72 Reasons I Carry a Gun

#1

Post by tfrazier »

Have you ever been to Family WatchDog?

I went to their site and plugged in my address. Guess what I found? 72 registered sex offenders living within 7 miles of my home. The closest, living 0.28 miles from my house, has a conviction for aggravated sexual assault. 1,478 feet from my front door.

72 is a lot of scumbags. And those are just the sex offenders. I wonder how many robbers, gang members, and convicts of other violent crimes there are? Another 72? Maybe a hundred or more? How many are out there that just haven't been caught and convicted yet?

And my neighborhood is somewhere just above middle class, with the average house listed around 200k.

It astonishes me when people can't comprehend why I keep firearms handy and ready for action, but I guess most people haven't checked to see what kind of individuals live down the street or next door. The number didn't surprise me. I know, having worked as a police officer in my prior career, that our society is full of bad guys.

A fellow told me during an argument over gun control the other day that I must be miserable, because I obviously lived in fear since my property is patrolled by a pit bull and I have a CHL. My response? The CHL and the pit bull are precisely the reasons I don't live in fear. He lives in denial and stupidity...and he should be living in fear if he knows how many perverts and killers are living near him as he goes about his daily routine with virtually no defense, depending on the judicial system to protect him as it turns parolees lose on our streets by the thousands.

The next time someone starts preaching gun control to you, send them over to Family WatchDog or one of the other sex offender registries and have them look up their neighborhood. Then point out a reputable gun dealer and CHL instructor for them, because they'll probably have a quick change of heart.

For every registered (convicted) sex offender, there are half a dozen who haven't been caught or escaped conviction.

You can get their names and addresses by going here https://records.txdps.state.tx.us/DPS_W ... index.aspx

Those are the ones that have always concerned me. But I am appreciative of the fact that I can easily look up the convicted ones.

Dh & I just decided not to buy an acre of property not far from us, and one of the contributing factors was that the known sex offenders in the area would have to use that particular road to get home.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

Hmm...Apparently I live in a law abiding neighborhood. Only six in my zip code, and none within a couple of miles. Maybe y'all should move to Plano.

For some reason, there seems to be a ton of child rapists around here.
That's just lovely.

Sorry to break the news to you, but the blips on the map are basicaly meaningless. 90% of all child molestation is done by family members or people close to the family. Those are the ones that you have to worry about whether you believe it or not!

I believe that "live-in boyfriends of single mothers" leads the statistical category.

The reason to have a gun is not sex offenders. At least not the ones living in Grapevine! I live about a mile from there. If you have children, or a hot looking wife, like I do, then yes, sex offenders are an issue. I doubt they're prowling around their own neighborhood though. If you look at most of their pictures online you could probably stomp them like a gnat. They are usually wusses, the people who do that type of thing. Ugly too. Can of bear mace and a baseball bat is a better end for them.

I had a friend that almost became a sex offender because he at one time worked in an adult book store. You know, where they sell the videos. He hadn't worked there in two years and got arrested after being pulled over for a warrant he didn't know he had. Apparently, the vice squad goes in and checks the payroll for employees and then puts warrants out on them for sex crimes. Luckily he was able to afford a good lawyer and beat the charge. This guy is the type that would never commit a real sex offense. He just needed a job.
