I have several 1911's although none are Rugers. Don't know why, just never bought one. I have them from an inexpensive Citadel to Les Baer's. The only issues I have had with any of them have been magazine issues. Either broken or more likely worn springs.

You have to either be one of those agencies certified to carry them or be very lucky to find one on Gunbroker. Those demand a premium over what's already a premium on the base pistol simply because there is a 2-3 year wait on them.

I have the commander size Ruger SR1911. Love it. Cant believe its in the price range it is. Hate to say it but I like it better than my Colt 1911s. Awesome gun for the money. Super accurate and eats everything ive put in it.

I've been shooting my SR1911 CMD for about 1 1/2 yrs now. I've also never had any problems with it or with any ammo in it. I'm guessing I've put about 1500 rounds through it now. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have never shot a Glock (of any kind) but have shot about 1500 rds through my SR1911 CMD.... had no problems with any kind of ammo that i shot through it, brass or steel case.... only problems i did have was the front sight broke twice which Ruger fixed free of charge...

had mine for about two years now

G19 came out in 1988.

So if you bought one in 1988 and have 1700 rounds through it in 2015, you've shot ~63 rounds a year through it.

I'm not sure I'd call that "shot the snot out of". ;-)

Ive had several Glocks and have never had the slightest issue with any of them. Put approx 15,000 rounds through a Gen 4 Glock 34 and can't recall a single hiccup. Only have one at the moment but im sure I'll own several more before its all said and done.

I've shot my new gen 4 G17 twice now in two days........not a ton of rounds, but maybe 200 or so, and I'm very impressed with the pistol. It shoots a lot softer than the gen 3 G19 we have, and it seems reasonably accurate too, although it still has the OEM sights, which I don't like that much. I have a set of Trijicon HD sights for it that I'll be mounting soon.
