Obama pushes to extend gun background checks to Social Secur

#1

Post by Rex B »

"Seeking tighter controls over firearm purchases, the Obama administration is pushing to ban Social Security beneficiaries from owning guns if they lack the mental capacity to manage their own affairs"

Guess who gets to decide of one is able to manage one's affairs?

Insanity! Pure insanity! Words cannot express my disgust with the current incumbent. I pray Congress squashes that idea with prejudice.

I agree totally; however, please be reminded he did not elect himself. His supporters, believers and minions walk among us and they are many.

Saw this on another forum:

LA Times is reporting that the Obama Administration has taken executive action to expand NICS denials to Social Security recipients who have had a fiduciary appointed to receive their benefits. In essence, the same policies that the VA has been using to add people to NICS will now be applied to everyone on Social Security.

Started in March, just announced Friday

This will effectively add 4.2 million people to NICS.

"The one sure way of getting rid of an executive order is in the White House. If an administration doesn't like an order from a previous president, it can legally reverse it on its own."

I cant remember these incidents where Social Security recipients, who worked all their lives for retirement, are roaming the streets shooting up stuff killing people and knocking off stores. Maybe the State is getting ready for some Greece like austerity measures...

I wonder how often a senior citizen whose mental acuity has deteriorated to the point where they can't manage their own daily affairs .... goes out shopping for firearms. I mean, how often will this be an issue?

This is just part of a larger effort to expand the use of all available data to effect societal change;

I was wondering the same thing. Now if this were being used as a means to confiscate weapons that is a different conversation.

This president, and his party, are a greater existential threat to liberty and the constitutional rule of law than any threat presented by ISIS.

If you have a CHL you are exempt from NICS check. It also sounds like it would only be an issue if you were not capable of managing your own finances.

Are you sure? I thought they still call it in, but you don't have to wait for it.
