Andy, I understand you posted it for future reference, but I've thought about this stuff many times. I've pointed out that there are nowhere near enough LEOs, particularly Federal LEOs, to remotely enforce something of that nature, even if they were all dedicated just to that task. It's not a matter of want on the part of the grabbers, they certainly want us all disarmed very badly; it's a matter of logistics...and they seem to have the most extremely poor understanding of logistics. I do understand the argument of "those laws will be enforced in a manner to create a chilling effect on firearms". And that has a possibility of working in some areas. But, this is a BIG nation with a lot of localities, counties, and even some states, that flat-out disagree with that stuff. Witness the NY State Sheriffs who said they would not waste any personnel enforcing the so-called SAFE Act. And that's in a grabber-friendly state. I'm sure I'll get told off about not knowing what I'm talking about, and that's fine, maybe I don't. But even California is full of unregistered "assault weapons", and I don't just mean the ones in the hands of gangs, but there isn't much the authorities there can do about it.

My best understanding of the numbers is as follows: 83,000 Armed federal personnel, 130+million Armed civilians! Seems a might lopsided, if only 10% chose to resist disarmament that's 13+ million, if the proverbial 3% should resist that is still 3+ million, those numbers should give anybody assigned confiscation duties Nightmares!

That's all nice to say. But if they manage to get their "red flag" laws in place. The 2nd amendment is dead. There will be NO ability assemble a militia to oppose a tyrannical government (as our founding fathers intended), much less, even DISCUSS it, since anyone who was caught even uttering a WORD about armed opposition would be immediately labeled a "risk", and would be disarmed by force. This is a whole new level of threat. One that has the leftists (and hell, most in government if we want to be clear) seeing the silver bullet that they've been trying to find for the last 30 years to disarm the public. The time is NOW to bombard ALL of our "elected representatives", the NRA, the TSRA and ALL pro-gun groups with calls, emails, tweets and facebook posts to let them know that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. NOW!! If this abhorrent set of laws is put in place, we won't HAVE the ability to fight it in the future. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE IN!!! It's up to us!!!!
I've been a member of this site for quite a long time, and have exercised my LTC rights since the law was first passed. I'd don't post much, but am now galvanized to take action on the absolute 2nd Amendment sellout that our feckless republican representatives seem to be supporting in Washington. PLEASE join me in this!!!!

All good thoughts but the thing is they dont care and these laws are really not about getting weapons off the street. They are all about maintaining power and punishing those they dont like. They dont care if it only gets x amount of weapons on the street. At the next election they can say I passed these laws. They know the press will never call them out on the results. Then when you get charged with jaywalking or being delinquent on taxes or whatever AND you have an assault weapon wow that's bonus money there because they dont like you.

I heard it said recently by a retired US Army Major with 20 years in, 12 of them in Special Forces, that "amateurs talk tactics; pros talk logistics." Heβs also an active prepper and has been reading the tea leaves for a long time. In his last assignment before retiring, he worked in the Pentagon doing threat assessment. He is expecting bad things to happen soon.
