This is how screwed up our country is now. The 711 Corporation does the same thing.
I bet the owners of that convenience store are big dems who voted for Hillary.

with the president of Plaid Pantry in Oak Grove explaining to local station KOIN-TV that ... employees are trained to de-escalate robbery situations to avoid injury,
that's exactly what the clerk did, to my way of thinking. :totap:

Anyway, if you're still alive, you can always go get another job.

Great job by the clerk!!!

Clearly a company that does not value it's employee's lives. A company that explicitly puts profits over people and criminals before employees.

Typical corporate schizophrenia. Many times, your "de-escalation" simply doesn't work. Then what? Prisons and Death Rows are packed with criminals who robbed convenience stores and then shot the clerks before running out.

National ABC News showed the video on TV. Clerk was very measured in his response. Really did not aim the gun at the man with the hatchet.

ABC showed how quickly the potentially violent situation was ended with the display of the gun by its self.

It was a very gun friendly news clip.

However, they failed to mention he was fired.

The corporate policy is problematic to use a Social Justice euphemism. The clerk is trained to de-escalate, but it takes two to tango. What if the robber is high as a kite and does not de-escalate? Is the corporate policy to die with dignity? The employer has an obligation to provide a safe work environment for the employees. Exposing them to criminal hazards is a major risk. De-escalation only works if the robber follows suit. The employer should provide the clerks with the security of a bullet-proof enclosure, hire armed security monitors, or allow clerks to have personal protection equipment such as handguns.

This policy is designed to stop criminals, criminal family, and criminal estates from seeking damages against a company where an employee defended themselves against the criminal. It's easier for the company to say, "that employee went rogue when he defended himself" than to argue about "how unreasonable it was for the employee to shoot that poor criminal so many times."
