Ninety-six people die from guns in America every single day. Twelve thousand Americans are murdered each year. The United States has more mass shootings, gun suicides, and nonfatal gun injuries than any other industrialized country in the world. Gun-safety advocates have tried to solve these problems with incremental changes such as background checks and banning assault style military weapons. They have fallen short. Agreed, but who said otherwise? Whether or not I personally believe that certain non-traditional lifestyles are a healthy choice, does not mean that the people who practice them do not have the same 2nd Amendment rights I have. Unfortunately, the majority of people belonging to those classes who are either not white, or not heterosexual.....or even not male....tend to vote with the party that wants to terminate those 2nd Amendment rights. In the pursuit of their other rights, and in some cases, their grievances, they’ve hewn themselves to the party that will give them whatever they want....in exchange for their liberty.
