It is not fake news for once.

Inside their echo chamber, the irony is totally lost on them. They are so concentrated, on blaming Trump for the uprising against a Socialist dictator, despite his ties to the evil empire Russia, they simply neglected to remember, why we have the 2A in the first place. I'm sure they will get back on track soon, and conviently "forget" they even alluded to it. Or claim that their direct quotes were taken out of context.

Sanders replied by explaining the vulnerability of a disarmed population in this kind of situation.

“And not only hanging on, but he appears to still control the military,” Sanders said. “You have to understand, in Venezuela, gun ownership is not something that is open to everybody. So if the military [has] the guns, they have the power. And so as long as Nicolas Maduro controls the military, he controls the country.”
 So they do understand. Everytime they rail against citizen ownership of firearms in general and military firearms in particular... they know they are moving us one step closer to Venezuela's style of government.

Texas already experienced a dictator in 1836, and one of the first things Santa Anna did was to disband the state militias
