IL: New "sanctuary county" for gun owners.

Kibler said the measure may be "mostly symbolic," but they felt it was important to express that many residents in Effingham County are concerned about their Second Amendment rights slowly being stripped away.
"So we thought ... why don't we just make this a sanctuary county like they would for undocumented immigrants. So we did flip the script on it," Kibler said, revealing that they've received an outpouring of support, along with some pushback.

You have to remember there are really two parts of Illinois; Cook County and then all the rest of the state. The politicians of Cook County bring their ilk to Springfield and try to make state laws like they do in Chicago. Glad to see the outstate starting to stand up against the anti-gun agenda from the far north.

Having spent 20 years in lower part of Illinois before moving to Texas I can affirm that the majority of the rest of the state hates that Cook County and Chicago rules the state.
