So..... if I understand correctly, the difference between the two bills is that the HPA would treat a suppressor the same as a firearm, requiring a 4473 to transfer the device; while the SHUSH would completely deregulate them into the same category as any other accessory like a scope or a bipod?

If that's the case, then personally I favor SHUSH; but I am very skeptical that even republicans can divorce themselves from the idea that a suppressor must be regulated just like a gun. Consequently, if I had to bet how this will play out, I'd be putting my money on HPA, with SHUSH being passed after a few more years.

I don't think that's how it should be, but Congress has virtually NEVER failed to disappoint me. So.......

Maybe my grandchildren will see something like this. Wait, I have grandchildren, maybe my great grand children will see something like this. Agreeing with TAM's feelings, the one thing Congress has never failed to do, is disappoint me.

The SHUSH Act could be helpful even if it doesn't go anywhere.

If the Dimocrats in Congress believe the Republicans are going to push it through, they may decide it's better to vote for the HPA. The HPA becomes a "compromise" bill.

I hope it works better in DC than it did in Austin, where the socialists killed both HB560 and HB1911 with no compromising.
