This is YUGE. It suggests that if Congress will pass the HPA and Trump signs, there will be no institutional resistance from ATF along the way.

Or it shows that at least one high level bureaucrat in the ATF would like to remain employed during the Trump administration! :biggrinjester:

TAM,

Do you know: Is it the hope suppressors will simply be allowed to be bought freely and installed, no muss, no fuss with paperwork, no tax for owning one (or multiple) and no wait?

Or ...?

Thanks!

I've been wondering this too. I had heard that they would be treated the same as rifles. You'd still need a background check without a LTC, but no more tax stamp or extra paperwork. If that's the case, could you legally make your own off the record, like you can rifles as long as you don't sell them? Haven't had time to research it.

NICS call involved if you don't have a LTC, but otherwise, suppressor sales would be treated like any other firearms sale.

I can say for sure, but I would suspect that would still require a serial number on the tube or one of the other parts........unless it were dealt with the same way as an 80% lower, or something like that.
