In light of the shooting at the Fort Lauderdale Airport, where: the gunman retrieved his firearm from a checked bag AND it is already forbidden to carry in the public area of an airport...

Apparently, there is there may be a renewed, "debate about whether to extend security screenings to public areas of airports, including entrances and baggage claim areas."

So...if it was already illegal to carry, and he brought it in on his checked bag...how would any measure to secure the front doors have prevented this?

Luckily, someone has some common sense around them:

But that doesn't stop the writer of this trash article from reminding the reader about many more attacks that this type of security 'improvement' also wouldn't fix.

The shooting came months after the deadlier airport attacks in Brussels and Istanbul, and years after the attack in Moscow:

• In March, two explosions at Zaventem International Airport in Brussels killed 17 people. A suicide bomber was responsible for one of the explosions.
• In July, a suicide bombing attack at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul killed 44 people and injured more than 200 in the airport’s international and domestic terminals.
• In January 2011, a suicide bomber struck the international arrivals area of Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, killing 36 people and wounding more than 100.

Anti-gun lobby would propose a 3,000 mile radius around all airports.

Screening at the airport entrance would require a major redesign and remodeling of every airport.

Despite what the reactionary snowflakes would like to impose on those of us who don't live in mom's basement and actually fly, that's just not going to happen.

The snowflakes ought to be glad it's only a random shooter here and there every so often instead of the suicide bombers. Far more death and destruction in those incidents. That would really hurt their "feewings"!

Another reason that anything Federal should be looked at extremely critically.

"They" have a one size fits all solution for things and believe that the masses on the coasts should be able to impose their "values' onto the great unwashed (us) in fly-over country.

It's a great idea to move security outside. I mean putting lots and lots of people outside, congregated waiting in a line so they can more easily be ran over with a bus is a lot better than getting shot.

But no Terrorist would think of using a Truck/Bus/vehicle in an attack, especially after someone pulled a fire alarm or made everyone go outside ... oh wait
