The legislature overrode the Governor's veto. West Virginians can now carry openly or concealed without a permit. The legislature also strengthened the law and punishments for illegal carry (felons, etc.).

It is hard to believe now days that Americans are granted freedoms rather than taking them away. Way to go West Virginia Is there any attempts to do this in Texas?

In addition to permitless carry for anyone over 21, West Virginia's new law also allows 18-20 year-olds to get a provisional carry license. I wish we'd do the same and have separate licenses for 18-20 year-olds here in Texas. There's a number of states which don't recognize any Texas LTC's because of the fact that Texas will issue licenses to military and veterans under 21. We can't control other state's carry laws, but we could could split the LTC into a >21 LTC and a "provisional" <21 LTC, which would give those other states the ability to recognize one type of license (or both). Continue to treat both types the same in every other way, under Texas law. From what I can tell, we'd gain WA, NV and MN by doing this.

The legislature should work on increasing the acceptance of our LTC in other states, particularly ones that are close to accepting ours or don't allow for a non-resident permit to be applied for online or via mail.

I am definitely an advocate for constitutional carry but I think the route Texas has taken has been the most correct and easiest way to pass legislation. For instance, campus carry; arguing the legal carrying of a firearm in a place otherwise heavily regulated is much easier on the minds of the public knowing that individuals elligible are very heavily vetted. I think that if we already had constitutional carry there is absolutely no way campus carry would have passed this past session.
