Warm weather and still no open carry

#1

Post by zatoman »

T-shirt weather in Htown today. I was out all day, including a trip to two different Wallmarts and a Kroger. No sign of open carry.

The press was predicting Armageddon from us poor dumb rednecks and we have showed them we have way more common sense and responsibility than them.

The fact that the press can be so wrong on so many issues should cause us concern. Especially since they never admit it. The press, and their clear anti-America agenda, has been exposed, but nothing changes. I think if the powers that be want to do away with our rights, then freedom of the press (which is clearly abused) should be eliminated first, well before the right to bear arms.

I was at a retreat in Waxahachie this Jan 8-10 2016 and one of the folk on the retreat (in a private campground) was walking around with OC. Only one I have seen.

I don't know that we should be concerned because the press is wrong, but I do think that we can point it out at every opportunity. They are in the business to sell a product that, due to over saturation of information must be sensationalized to draw attention. Who is going to read a newspaper or watch a news program where they said " Texas open carry starts today, no reaction or issues are expected" ?

I went to the range for Charity match at Dallas Pistol Club. I kept on my vest, but never cared if my carry was visible or not.

I was standing with kids today for about 4 hours in front of Granbury Walmart, trying to raise money for kids church camp, and I have seen probably several hundred people walk by. I have done my best to look for someone OC'ing, but I saw nobody. Not one single person.
Go figure.

I obviously did not OC today.

To date, I've only seen one person OC'ing in our local Kroger the first week of January.

My social life appears to be null

Welcome to the forum. I was carrying openly in Watauga last weekend. Sorry I missed you. ;-) Texas is a big place. With less than 4% of the population licensed, it seems unlikely that you would see anyone carrying openly in the normal course of events.

The issue was never that large numbers of license holders would choose to carry openly. The media and a few outspoken groups promoted that myth. I've carried openly in AZ, CO, OK, and NM. Now I can carry openly off of my property. :patriot: :txflag:

Hello all:
Live in Bandera (about 1 hr N. of SA in Hill Country).
My friend and I both carry every weekend here in town and I have carried numerous times in SA.
No issues at all. Not sure if anybody even notices.
No fainting soccer moms/no children screaming/no blood running down the middle of the streets.
Totally uneventful!
Regards,
