Fight Obama: Do NOT Donate to the NRA

The Yankee Marshal (YM) has posted a video with the above subject. (I did not include a direct link to the video because the YM sometimes uses language that is not compliant with this forum's rules.)
In the video, the YM advocates that instead of just donating to the NRA, we should give a gift NRA membership to Michael Bloomberg. The YM hopes that Bloomberg's receipt of thousands of gift memberships could be a media event the NRA could use.
What say you? Is donating to the NRA through gift memberships to Michael Bloomberg an appropriate way to respond to Obama's upcoming executive orders?

I didn't look at the article yet...I will.
But, my immediate thought: While it might be a fun publicity stunt, I think the funds would be better spent donating to the NRA's ILA arm, personally.
I personally don't want Bloomberg to have a snowball's chance of earning voting membership rights in the only organization with any political power that actively supports our 2A rights.

I don't think so. NRA needs the money to fight people like Bloomidiot. I'll continue my NRA support.

I agree but I didn't want to influence the comments.
I don't think the publicity would have any significant or long lasting effect besides, making a gift membership rather than an outright donation would cause the NRA to have to spend some money, at least on postage, acknowledging the donation.
I also thought about the idea of giving a gift membership to a more local representative but again, there would be no long lasting effect if there were any effects at all.
I could give a gift membership to my kids or maybe a friend ...
or
I just received the new NRA Store catalog in the mail today and there are a few things I like...
or
I could buy something from an online merchant I just discovered that allows you to round up and add an NRA donation ...
but I think I will just go to
Contribute to NRA and donate!

They used to have some pretty lucrative options for life memberships for youth. An NRA membership for your kids would be a good investment in their future, especially if they are interested in guns and shooting.
