My daughter just got an email from her employer, which does HR services for some big companies:

“On January 1, 2016, the State of Texas “Open Carry” law goes into effect whereby citizens who are licensed to carry handguns may openly carry them in public unless a sign is displayed prohibiting “Open Carry”. We would like to formally notify you that that we will be prohibiting the “Open Carry” of handguns on this property effective January 1, 2016.

“Pursuant to Section 30.07, Penal Code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code (handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly."

Signs will be placed accordingly to notify visitors of the above policy. We ask that you please pass this memo on to personnel to advise them of the new building policy change effective January 1, 2016."

I expect these will be appearing a lot of places. I just hope they don't take another look at the 30.06 rules at the same time

I see the same sentiment repeated over and over and people are making such a fuss over OC hurting CC. It may have brought more attention to the situation much sooner than it would have otherwise but I believe that many 06/07 signs were inevitable anyway with each incident and anti-gun push in the media. As more things happen and time goes on I see more and more 06 signs go up even before OC.

I have always said that if we try to maintain the status quo we will slowly have less rights regained than more until we have none. In time OC will further 2A rights in the form of bringing attention to the issue and attracting new pro 2A folks and or converts. Hopefully we will see gun free zones diminish overtime as more people come to realize what a threat they are to one's safety.

Progress can be slow and painful but we must continue to fight to have our constitutional rights restored! Our God given rights! He gave us each two trigger fingers for a reason.
